Hi
I am moving to Dubai in November with my husband and want to get a job. I have applied for a number of different vacancies but not had any response. I do have a degree and subsequent qualifications but not a profession as such. I would like to get into H R as that has been a large part of my role in the past and I have a CIPD qualification

My question is - are there any recruitment agencies in Dubai similar to in the UK - such as REED - that are not hospitality or engineering focussed

thank you

To be honest they will not bother sourcing someone from the UK, as their are plenty available in the UAE already unless you are really lucky or have something really unique for a company.

Most recruiters use Gulf Talent and Linked In. The latter is also used by companies. Apart from having the CIPD qualification do you have any HR experience at all? You will be competing with hundreds of candidates with local HR experience. Many of these candidates speak several languages and reside in the region. Sadly HR roles are far and few between and many companies are laying people off. You may have more luck when you are here as most recruiters try and recruit local talent as it is far more cost efficient and practical. The job market isn't the best at present and salaries have decreased over the last year however networking is key as many people find roles through friends and other contacts. Another point to think about is that agencies here aren't like employment agencies at home. They all work for clients and will only contact you if they have a suitable role for you Good Luck

Hi UKlady64, There are heaps of recruitment agencies in the UAE that specialise in generalist recruitment and HR. Bayt.com is a good website for job seekers. Hays, Michael Page, Charterhouse, Morgan Cole and Manpower are all good recruitment agencies that operate from the Middle East also. A lot of the positions require you to already be in the UAE to apply but you may get lucky with some. Also will take a couple of weeks for the Residency visas to come through - I presume you will be getting sponsored by your husband to be here? Good luck with the job hunt.
