If we could rate our favourite Japanese things — sushi would rule the list. And judging from our social feeds — so far, 2017 has been pretty intense about sushi fusions.

These delicate delights have been reshaped, renamed and mixed with a variety of other food items. Cake, pies, burgers, burritos — you name it and they have it.

Making an authentic sushi is a delicate process that requires precision, timing and a gentle hand but interestingly, these crazy sushi mashups are anything but delicate or precise.

So what makes sushi such a popular choice to mix and match? Well, two things.
1: Once you have your rice, the rest is all up to your imagination and preference. You can add fruits and nuts and it will still be a sushi.
2: The final results are likely engineered for their extreme Instagramability.

Check out some of these sushi delights that made it to our social feeds.

Do they look good enough to eat? Sure.

Should you try it? What is life, if not one big series of experiments? So yep, choose your favourite from below and give it a try at home.
