Ramadan in Dubai 2021: Restaurants Can Serve Without Screens
Restaurants in Dubai will no longer need screens to hide from public view, announced Dubai Economy officials

Restaurants in Dubai can now serve food without being screened from public view during Ramadan fasting hours this year, according to new rules from Dubai Economy.
Previously, restaurants, cafes, and other dining destinations had to use screens, curtains, and other methods to hide from sight throughout fasting hours during the Holy Month.
For Ramadan 2021, the Dubai Department of Economic Development confirmed that dining outlets will no longer need to put up curtains or dividers.
"Restaurants will be allowed to serve customers without putting in place curtains, dividers or facades as has been the mandatory practice previously," DED said.
Restaurants and cafes will also no longer need to apply for a special permit to serve food during fasting hours, as was mandatory in the past.

However, if anyone wishes to eat or drink during Ramadan, they will still need to do so indoors and out of sight.
When is Ramadan 2021 in the UAE?
Ramadan is set to commence this week and is predicted to begin on either the evening of Monday April 12 or on Tuesday April 13, 2021.
The Holy Month will start when the crescent moon (called hilal) coincides with the astronomical new moon.
The UAE Moon Sighting Committee will meet virtually on Monday to announce the beginning of Ramadan.
