Dry night in Dubai for Eid Al Adha 2017

The dates for Eid Al Adha 2017 in Dubai and the UAE have been confirmed, after authorities in Saudi Arabia announced that the first day of Eid Al Adha will fall on Friday 1st September, 2017.

Eid Al Adha follows a day after Arafat Day on August 31st, 2017.

Consequently, no alcohol will be served in Dubai and UAE restaurants, bars and nightclubs as it will be a dry night for 24 hours.

The dry night will begin from sunset on Wednesday 30th August, and will end at sunset on Thursday 31st August, which has been confirmed by some Dubai outlets so far, What's On reported.

Why is there a dry night?

Some individuals new to Dubai and the UAE may not be familiar with the concept of a dry night.

Basically, a dry night/day means that NO alcohol is served across Dubai and the UAE for the allocated time slot. This applies to all outlets, including hotels.

The dry night occurs because Arafat Day is a religious holiday and a holy day in Islam.
