ummmuhammad123 having had only sons can't give much advice about handling possible friend problems. The fact that she and your son have opened up about firstly how these families treated these poor mites and secondly how the children are treated when they visit is a major red flag.I would be actively encouraging new friends...... As far as your late night rescue, what is obvious is your care and compassion, yes probably not that wise charging around in a strange area with an 11 year old late at night but you did what you thought was best given the circumstances. I think we are preaching to the converted here as far as spaying is concerned, it is done now. As far as adopting out I would always have the family come around and see how they integrated with the kitten as the first test. The second was did they come with a carrier ( I would insist on it at first contact ) it shows commitment. Thirdly we would sign a spay/neuter contract that the kitten be fixed as soon as they were 6months old. I would follow up at the 6 month mark and became quite a pain in the butt about it. On one occasion I eventually fetched the cat had her spayed myself and found her a new home...... I have no doubt you will find these mites wonderful homes and can only think that your children will be just fine...they have a super mom to learn from. edited by Nomad on 23/09/2014 edited by Nomad on 23/09/2014

Sorry to say this but i'm more concerned that you are dragging an 11 year old child around Sharjah in a taxi at 11 o'clock at night !! And yes, the cat should be spayed, given the enormity of the stray cat issue here...I hope you can get them to one of the adoption days - all the places have facebook pages, it's easy to check.. 38Smiles, Bin Kitty, British Vet Hospital etc. Good luck. In answer to your other question, i'm sorry, I only have boys but yes, I imagine girls are something of an emotional rollercoaster, although i'd have thought 11 is still a little young yet...

There are a few adoption days happening this weekend - bin kitty at BVH on Friday and one *i think* at The vet hospital on Saturday (not sure about the latter). Perhaps try contacting them and see if you can add your kitties into the day, although it may be too late for this one - bin kitty usualy do at least one adoption day a month so may get in on the next one. You really do need to be careful about who you give your furbabies to - not everyone (especially here) knows what is entailed in giving a cat a home - most don't realise that a cat can live to 20+ years. You need to make sure that they will take them with them when they leave and give them a "forever" home. Again, as someone said, teh bin kitty face book page has info on what to ask potential adoptees. edited by IzzyOnTheSeat on 23/09/2014

Hope you don't let your daughter play at these people's houses. If they treat a kitten so badly, imagine what they do to other people ...

I am really sorry to hear you had to put up with all that drama and hope your daughter is okay but i would like to make a couple of points for future reference: Why is your cat not spayed? It is really irresponsible to allow your cat to get pregnant - there are already so many homeless and abandoned kittens. Please do this ASAP to avoid further heartache. When homing these kittens - please find a responsible experienced cat owner if possible. They are not toys to be given out at school and you should be more selective. I know you are keen to find them homes but please dont rush. Put an ad on Dubizzle or Bin Kitty and let people come and see kittens with their mum so you can check them out and make sure they are serious about adopting the cat, know what food to give it, will take it to vet for vaccinations (and neutering once old enough). Bin kitty can give you advice about what questions to ask when someone wants to take the kittens. Good luck! edited by kitten67 on 23/09/2014 edited by kitten67 on 23/09/2014

I don't have kids of your daughter's age so I cannot help there, but just wanted to say thank goodness you got those poor kittens out. If your daughters' friends accounts are true that's no way to welcome a new and frightened pet. Hope the kitties are doing fine now.
