Hi Everyone, I am an early years teacher , moving to Doha shortly. I've always had a passion for psychology and since this thread has specialists in the field, I was wondering if anyone knows of Masters/ PG courses in Psychology/Counselling in Doha. Really appreciate the info, because I've been looking online and havent found anything ! :? Thanks !!!

Hi Fascinated, I see you posted this in April, but I am moving to Doha with my partner early next year and am in a similar position that you described in your post (clinical-neuro PhD, work in cognitive assessments). I've had a decent look around online but Psychology doesn't seem to be in demand at all. Did you have any luck and are you working now?

Hi Fascinated, There is a new dedicated child Psychiatry and Psychology section of Hamad hospital recently opened near Wathnan Mall, near Equestrian roundabout. There is a very nice consultant there called Dr Hanan (UK trained I think) and she may be interested in chatting to you as she told me there was a shortage of clinical psychologists in Doha, especially for children. She's extremely approachable so if you perhaps go down there and leave your details with an introduction letter for her at reception she might be happy to have a chat with you about some possible leads?

Massive need but my understanding is that it is extremely difficult to get the appropriate licences to be able to practice legally here and there have been recent crack-downs on psychologists conducting assessments without licences. Maybe contact the Child Development Centre as a starting point? http://www.cdcenterqatar.com/index.php/aboutus/what-we-do

Hi everyone, I am a Canadian with a PhD in clinical psychology and specializations in neuropsychological assessment with children and adults, as well as being a licensed teacher with specialization in learning disabilities. I also have training and experience in psycho-educational and psycho-developmental assessment. In addition, I am trained and experienced in expressive play therapy. I am wondering if there is any need for or interest in my services in Doha? I've been looking online and haven't found much. My husband has accepted a teaching position at an international school, which is why we are moving over at the end of July. Would I be able to practice privately? Cheers...
