There are several public gardens around Kuwait which are maintained by the Municipality. They have slides, swimgs, climbing apparatus and grassy areas for picnics or barbecues.
These are situated within many residential areas including Ahmadi, Bayan, Keifan, Mishref, Rumaithiya, Salmiya and Salwa.
You will also find many 'play areas' for children along the Corniche off Arabian Gulf Street and outside many restaurants but Kuwait is keen on developing more green areas with one called 'Boulevard' being constructed right now in Salmiya.
At present the 4 main recreational parks which are managed by the Touristic Enterprises Company (TEC) are :
Green Island
This is a man-made island 300m out to sea towards the North end of Arabian Gulf Street. Here you can hire bicycles, relax on sandy beaches whilst children play on the equipment (slides, swings etc) or walk around the amphitheatre and fountains. Entrance is 250 fils per person and opening hours are 8am to 10.30pm daily.
Shaab Leisure Park
Al Shaab Leisure park is clearly seen on Arabian Gulf Street with it's roller coaster and tall rides. There are a variety of activities for all ages including amusements, games, rides, bungee jumping, tennis, indoor bowling, cinema, ice-skating and roller skating. There are a number refreshment outlets in the Food Court and a nice supermarket (The Sultan Centre). The park is open from 5pm to 1am in the summer (1st May to 31st October), 4pm to 12 in winter (1st November to 30th April) and 10am to 12pm at weekends. Entry costs 500 fils. Telephone 2561 3777.
Aqua Park
Aqua Park was inaugurated in 1995, in Kuwait City. It is spread over a total surface area of 60 000 cubic meters and is situated on Arab Gulf Street adjacent to the Kuwait towers.

Jleeb al Shyoukh (Touristic Gardens)
The gardens, which are situated in Safat cover 87,000 sq metres. There are flowers, palm trees, walks and refreshment outlets. Opening times are 4pm to 12 (in the summer) and 3pm to 10pm (in the winter). Entry is 1KD per adult and 500 fils per child.
Sabahiyah (Ahmadi Park)
This park is located in central Ahmadi about 40km south of Kuwait City. There are games, rides and amusements for children as well as refreshments and entry costs 500 fils.
