Coffee mornings in Azerbaijan

Coffee mornings are one of the best ways to meet other expat women when you are in a country where English is not the mother tongue. It is generally accepted that expats speak in English in their place of work and coffee mornings are also a communal environment where women can get together and mingle.

The International Women’s Club of Baku

The International Women’s Club of Baku was founded in 1994 with the objectives of fostering friendship and mutual understanding among women from all over the world and supporting charitable work in Azerbaijan.

We are a charitable and a social organization with a diverse and growing membership base of over 100 women of varying nationalities, backgrounds, ages and interests.

We place strong focus on humanitarian assistance. In recent times, our focus has expanded to include livelihood training and human development. Positive examples of our work lie in the numerous projects at orphanages, the UNHRC refugee centre, and fund raising activities that we have engaged in over the years.

In addition to our charitable initiatives, the IWC places high value on fostering an appreciation of the rich culture and history of Azerbaijan, and all other member nationalities comprising the club. Our monthly activity calendars provide members with the opportunity to partake in cooking and language classes, visits to the many historic sites in Baku and around wider Azerbaijan, in addition to trips to museums, local performances, concerts, and exhibitions in Baku.

Above all, the IWC values its diversity, the strength of its international network and its function as a base for all new and "seasoned" residents comprising the expat community in Baku.

Join us here on Facebook for an opportunity to interact with other members in a more personal forum. We look forward to any questions, comments or recommendations you may have, whether you have been here in Baku for some time, or you're fresh off the plane.

The club hosts weekly coffee mornings, details of which can be found on their Facebook page.
