Nutella ingredients viral photo

To all those whose love for Nutella borders on addiction – we’ve got some bad news.

A picture recently uploaded on Reddit shows the ingredient breakdown of this world-beloved hazelnut chocolate jar. As disheartening as it is to see, the photo (below) shows the raw form of the hazelnut spreads' main ingredients: palm oil, skim milk powder, cocoa, hazelnuts and sugar.

The deconstructed photo, which has been upvoted 28000 times so far, shows that almost one-third of Nutella is made of sugar (yep, say goodbye to all those spoonfuls of goodness) while the other halves aren’t healthy either.

The photo is sparking outrage as people are shocked at the sizable amount of palm oil, which has been classified as potentially carcinogenic by the European Food Safety Authority.

What Nutella's officials have to say?

Nutella’s parent company, Ferrero, that has recently announced plans to open their first ever official outlet has neither accepted nor refuted the picture.

But earlier in January, a spokesperson for Nutella told Mirror Online: "We don’t disclose the full proportions of the ingredients in Nutella as our recipe is unique and we wish to safeguard this.”

(This isn’t helping much, guys)

Meaning? Better keep that spoon away from the jar.

The report further stated that the product’s label provides simple and clear nutritional information per 15g portion, or two heaped teaspoons, as well as per 100g.

And to make the matter worse, the report also mentioned how Ferrero’s core nutritional belief is that small portion sizes help people to enjoy their favourite foods in moderation.
