Review: Sunday Roast at The Duck Hook in Dubai Hills Golf Club
There's nothing quite like the humble Sunday Roast with all the trimmings...
26 January 2020
The search for a brilliant Sunday Roast dinner has ended...
Situated in the newly developed Dubai Hills Estate Golf Club, the Duck Hook doesn’t shy away from their “English-style Gastropub” interior.
Welcomed by a warm and relaxed space with quirky elements, it's a great place to take the family or unwind after a round of golf at the Dubai Hills Golf Club. Head down to meet their daily happy hour between 3-8 pm and catch the sunset on the terrace overlooking the golf course. Enjoy a cooling cocktail, glass of wine or a beer as you unwind from your day.
Cocktails & Soft Drinks
To start our evening we enjoyed a round of happy hour drinks from the bar. In their aim to become completely plastic free, the Duck Hook and their neighbour Hill House Brasserie, offer in-house filtered water with free refills to quench your thirst.
A Good Ribbing: Beef Cooked 3 Ways
Slow-roasted topside, roasted rib, and pulled short rib – a meat lover’s dream! Cooked to our liking at medium, we were spoilt for choice with each element on this dish. Complimented with honey-roasted veg, duck fat roasties, cauliflower and leek gratin, and a large Yorkshire pud. All topped up with lashings of gravy and horseradish sauce, it’s safe to say you won’t walk away hungry. A rich and comforting dish that celebrates all-things beef.
All the Breast: Free Range Chicken Breast
Accompanied by thyme and honey roasted veg, duck fat roasties, veal pigs in blankets on a bead of braised red cabbage, with a side of bread sauce and gravy. We were pleased to see the chicken was juicy and boasted crispy seasoned skin, complemented by a helping of braised cabbage. The pigs in blankets, though not pork, were a tasty addition too.
Desert: Sticky Toffy Pudding
With warm custard and a dollop of vanilla ice cream, it's a truly indulgent way to finish off a Sunday dinner and highly necessary of course! If you’re a fan of warming desserts, then this is certainly the one for you and gets a resounding thumbs up from us.
The staff are friendly and knowable about the produce, if you're stuck for choice they are happy to offer recommendations.
There’s no doubt their portions are huge so make sure go with an appetite!
