11. Prince of Brunei (2015)

With matching gold outfits embellished with diamonds and a bouquet of gems - the wedding of Prince of Brunei in 2015 was an unabashed display of wealth. The venue was a lavish palace with a capacity of 5000 guests in 1,788 rooms. The bride also toted Christian Louboutin heels encrusted with Swarovski crystals.

10. Liza Minnelli and David Gest (2002)

Before Kim and Kanye, there was Liza and David. For her wedding with Gest, the Broadway star, Liza Minnelli pulled out all the stops with a lavish affair held at the Regent Hotel in New York. The guest list was a starry line-up that started with Micheal Jackson as the best man and Elizabeth Taylor as the matron of honour. With 3500 guests and 750 million viewers globally - this was the wedding of the century. Prince Charles of England married Lady Diana in an extravagant affair that cost $48 million in 1981. There were 27 wedding cakes along with a five-foot-tall main cake, with a duplicate cake made in the case of an accident.
