US tennis champion was inspired by the ‘Beauty and the Beast’ fairy-tale throughout her wedding. With a first dance to ‘Tale as Old as Time’ and ‘Be Our Guest’ played at the wedding dinner, there were also chandeliers encased in gold birdcages, a gold arch of flowers at the end of the aisle and long tables covered in lamé fabric. This completed the French ball-themed décor and represented the couple’s fairy-tale story.

Serena wanted the wedding to be a non-traditional wedding, as sofas lined the aisle instead of chairs in a runway style facing away from the alter to create a fashion-vibe. There was a short video on a TV above the aisle encased in gold frames, which told the story of Serena and Alexis’s relationship, after they met by chance during Breakfast in Rome.
The couple who fit the stereotype of ‘opposites attract,’ included their baby daughter Alexis ‘Olympia’ Ohanian Jr, who was born in September, in the wedding. In his vows, Alexis called Serena his queen and said that they already have their princess. The date of the wedding was also significant as it was the birthday of Alexis’ late mother who died nine years ago.
Serena Williams also included a little piece of tennis in the wedding, with trophy-style place cards and tables named after Serena’s Grand Slam wins!
