Whether you are married, engaged or single - there's nothing like a good proposal story to melt your heart.

We decided to ask the women in our very diverse office to share their engagement stories along with a picture of their ring(s) and they obliged happily! Scroll down if you love mushy love stories and gorgeous rings like we do.

Rebecca - Editor, ExpatWoman.com

"He proposed in Dubai back in 2013 while on holiday at Jumeirah Zabeel Saray overlooking Atlantis The Palm. I had NO clue it was going to happen… I was sitting on the balcony enjoying the view, then he came out with a sterling silver tray with a lid on a plate. Underneath the lid was the little blue box I’d always dreamed of, at which point my now husband bent down on one knee and actually said to me… “You’re the most annoying person in the world, and I love you. Will you marry me?” So I took the ring and left him. Ha! Joking. Of course, I said yes. The ring itself is an 18 carat gold band, with a classic Tiffany-cut solitaire 0.5 carat diamond."

Michelle - Business Development Manager

"He unexpectedly planned a trip for us to Paris and when we arrived there he had booked us a table in a restaurant facing the Eiffel tower.

It was incredibly romantic, but I was not expecting what happened next. He ordered champagne and the waiter came got the tray and handed it to me - I was very confused until I realised there was a ring there! He got down on one knee and well, the rest is history. "

Rosine - Operations Manager

"My husband is what I would call a 'discreet romantic'. He buys me jewellery randomly, occasion or not. However, when it came to choosing the wedding ring, he was so nervous because he didn't know what I was going to be wearing and if the ring would complement my dress. A few days before the wedding he gave me a jewellery box and when I opened it - there was no ring! Instead, there was a card that said I could get whatever I liked. No complaints here!"

Reshma - Financial Accountant

"A promise is all it takes to bind two people, we didn't need a ring to prove our promise, but then again, he knew, diamonds are a girl's best friend.

This 24 carat gold band plated silver with a 0.25 carat diamond, sits beautifully on me making me believe in love every single day of my life."

Gail - Chief Operations Officer

"I was wearing my pyjamas after a hard day at work when my other half got down on one knee- not the most glamourous of occasions but both of us did not want a cheesy fuss! He had done a scrapbook with messages and photos in, which was so lovely and the words at the end were “Will you marry me…”. Of course, I said yes. The engagement ring is quite large as I have big hands and didn’t want a tiny diamond looking lost on my finger, so the stone is a large pink sapphire. The wedding ring and one-year anniversary bands are custom made to sit around the setting of the engagement ring and create a “stack”.

I love that here in Dubai you can get anything custom made, as it makes your special jewellery really unique and exactly how you want it."

Melissa - Client Support Manager

"The last time I flew down to New York to see my boyfriend, he'd just started a new job so taking leaves was out of the question. I'd expressed my disarray at the fact that he couldn't take even a single day off to spend with me as I was only around for a week. Still pissed at him, I went over to Soho (where he works) as he wanted to spend his lunch break with me. He asked if I was hungry as we were strolling and ended up walking toward Dominique Ansel Bakery, our favourite spot. We casually walked in and ordered our usual DKA - the most delicious dessert at the spot. As I tucked into my dessert, I felt something hard against the fork and was stunned to see a beautiful ring staring back at me. Apparently, the lunch break stroll was planned, walking into Dominique Ansel wasn't a coincidence and a year later, I'm happily engaged to the love of my life - who's still a persistent workaholic.

But he's MY workaholic now!"

Amanda - Chief Financial Officer

"My ring isn’t actually an engagement ring. My husband is non-conformist and so getting engaged was never going to happen. No fairy tale story about the proposal either as you can imagine - just a solid bond that gets stronger with each passing day. He bought me the ring for my 30th birthday, I designed it, chose the diamonds and had it made at the jewellery quarter in sunny Birmingham and I still love it even after all these years. We are celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary next week and trying not to get too mushy. Our love is as strong as ever and we can’t believe how lucky we are."

Dina - Social Media Executive

"We were friends for a long time before we travelled to a beach music festival in Brazil with a few of our friends. It was a great day and we were having the best time dancing by the beach. All the dancing got us hungry and when we went to look for food - we couldn't find anything.

Out of nowhere - a server came out with a tray of sushi (my most favourite food ever - I could live on sushi) and there was a ring on the tray with a little card that said, "Will you marry me?". It was an instant yes (after eating the sushi, of course)."

Our Marketing Manager, Hammad, wanted in on the fun and so, he came up with a DIY ring using a hair-tie. You do not want to try this at home.
