U.S. department store Macy’s has teamed up with modest womenswear brand, Verona, as their full spring wear collaboration will be available from 15th February. The news was announced on World Hijab Day (1st February) that Macy’s would start to cater for American Muslim women, with the launch of their first modest fashion collection, Macy’s x Verona.

The modest fashion line will feature hijabs and abayas, loose clothing and mostly importantly, lots of variety, as the collaboration aims to make Muslim women feel confident and fabulous in their clothes.

Founder of the Verona Collection Lisa Vogl stated “Verona Collection is more than a clothing brand. It’s a platform for a community of women to express their personal identity and embrace fashion.” As the fashion industry took a step towards inclusivity and embracing all cultures.

Macy's joins Dolce & Gabbana, American Eagle Outfitters and Nike by expanding their brand to fill the gap in the fashion industry for Muslim womenswear. Macy’s partnership with a Muslim-owned company has been praised as they begin to speak the to the modest wear shopper.

With the Nike Pro Hijab announced as the Beazley Fashion Design of the Year, it is clear that not only is Hijab fashion starting to be recognised but also appreciated. With more Hijab wearing models, influencers, athletes and expanding Hijab and modest clothing brands, we hope that 2018 continues to be a year of inclusivity.
