How To Get Rid Of Emotional & Expensive Clutter

Having a cluttered life isn’t just about busy schedules and lack of space. It has everything to do with the emotional baggage we carry around — things that are just hard to let go of, things that are just too heart-tugging to be trashed and things that might someday if ever, remind you of someone.

This self-created clutter is the reason behind a nagging sense of dissatisfaction in our lives. Hard to believe but that’s what the most organised woman in the world — Marie Kondo says.

Kondo, who is a world-famous organising guru and a bestselling author, has transformed the way people organise their homes, closet and eventually lives. Her famous method, known as KonMari involves gathering your belongings in one place and categorising them — one item at a time, keeping only those things that “spark joy” and discarding the rest.

But what do you do with things that have a sentimental price? According to Kondo you Know thyself .You think and decide why something should be kept or why it should be thanked or discarded.

Let go or be dragged

Letting go of emotional clutter is the hardest part of organising your life. After all, those piles of photos bring fond memories; they remind you of people you once loved. That’s why, according to Kondo, these items should be the last to be dealt with.

Perhaps the biggest fear we have is that if we throw away these objects, we’ll somehow disrespect the people or lose the memories associated with them. But Kondo says otherwise; truly precious memories will never vanish even if you discard things associated with them.
