With the arrival of winter, it's time to get out of the air-conditioned confines of your living room to the great outdoors. There is no reason why you can't enjoy an elegant lifestyle while soaking up the sun and drinking in the crisp winter breeze. All you need is a balcony, a courtyard or even a gazebo in the garden.
Consider the space
If you plan to have a simple living room vibe with chairs and sofas, you have to consider the space. Allow some breathing space so the area does not look cluttered. If coffee and conversation is your thing, then have comfortable sofas with a centre table. If outdoor family breakfast or lunch with friends appeal to you, then choose a dining table and chair arrangement.
Beat the heat
If the balcony or patio is directly exposed to the sun you can always rely on rattan furniture. Simple cushions and back rests can be placed and then removed when not needed. Awnings, parasols and umbrellas are cost effective solutions to shade you from the sun.
Add vibrant colours.

Add vibrant colors
Try adding a hint of adventure with bold colours and patterns. If your living room decor is elegant and subdued, contrast it outside with visually striking cushions and throw pillows.
Go green
Having plants indoors is not always ideal. But with your outdoor space, you can create a mini garden with potted plants and vines. Curled up with a book in a tranquil setting with plants, sweet smelling flowers and birds chirping around you - could life get any more enjoyable than this?
Outdoor entertainment
With the popularity of wireless and Bluetooth music systems that run on batteries it is now possible to enjoy outdoor concerts everyday! And going out for movies takes a whole new meaning. Just get some butter popcorn from the microwave and fire up the latest block buster on your tablet - it's a movie experience unlike any other.

An outdoor movie experience is second to none.
