I live just outside of Udine. Love it here - which is good, as it's home! We won't be here for long sadly - off to DH's next posting, which we will know in the next couple of weeks. Treviso is gorgeous!

Hi pmd, Just left Dubai 10 days ago for good - and I'm now living in a charming little village 40 minutes outside of Venice :) I was in Dubai for almost 10 years. All I can tell you is to look forward to the fresh food (unbelievably reasonably priced after Dubai), cars that actually stop at zebra crossings, the ice cream (yum!!), and a ton of choices when it comes to finding somewhere to live. And hey, Venice is not exactly a horrible place - just ignore the tourists :) Good luck!

... didn't mean to break the rules or anything, just trying to give the heads up to new families who might benefit. Any idea where might be a better place to post? Thank you!

Hi, There's a music store in the Oasis Beach Centre - the blue looking building past Dubai Zoo when going towards Dubai. It's the mall that has Zaks the uniform store. It's on the first floor, tucked away in a corner.

I use RunKeeper on my iPhone. It's a free app, and keeps track of current pace etc, and if you set it, even beeps and tells you to run faster. It works even while you have music playing.. You can go back and check how you did on previous runs, and via its GPS also tracks the route. All the best for the 10k!

bythesea - you need two things: something to get excited about, and people to get engaged with. It's amazing how one's perspective changes when there's something to look forward to. Don't underestimate how cut-off you can feel when you don't have human contact on a consistent basis. Find a community, even online (like this one), and become an active member. During some of my most isolated times, I used to meet weekly online over Google Hangout with a group of like-minded folk around a common topic (we were all writing books). They were from all the world, and that weekly hour got me through a difficult period (borderline depression, even). So find something to get excited about, and add people who are excited about the same thing. Internet is a wonderful connector. Use it! All the best - and there's absolutely nothing wrong with you!

I know it's super early, but should I start the rain dance? Can't believe how obsessive I get about rain. Checked the weather forecast even before EW

Got mine at Mercato in Triumph on the first floor. You could also get the stick-on ones (no straps anywhere!) in La Senza, also in Mercato on the ground floor. Good luck!

Monnie, you're right - when we've "double dated" with another family with kids of similar ages it worked out quite well. Yes, of course they can sit still for an hour :) Just wanted some recommendations of places that might be popular for families with teens ... When they were younger, Spice Island's cake decorating and the Movenpick play area were big hits with them. Thanks for the suggestions PollyDxb!

Probably been done to death, but can't find anything recent. Where can we go for Friday brunch with a teen and a tween so they're not bored to tears? Looking for somewhere with a bit of fun atmosphere ...

Thank you so much ladies Alimart, Dikane: the one from Ace Hardware is it a straight rod, or are there are other shapes? I have one of those semi-circular, jacuzzi-type tubs, and a wall mirror as the backdrop. Nice, but extremely impractical, so I'm hoping there were some U shaped rods?? Kelly1814: how did you get one fitted? Carpenter?

Where can I get a shower curtain rod/structure that clips to the bathtub edge as opposed to needing to get nailed to a wall? TIA

LOL @ sending boss's CV to recruitment agency :) Shj Sarah, that's so brave. I feel way too guilty to walk away from the package - after all, it is permitting us to be comfortable, debt free and let the children pretty much be spoiled rotten. Don't mind the learning bit at all, but dreading having to "prove" myself all over again. Having said, it must be better than this nightmare ... Thanks for the encouragement and do share any info you might have on recruiters looking for a super IT gal. Thanks!

So pleased for you - been going mad from hot flashes every hour and would do just about anything to get rid of them ... Have a drawer-ful (make that cabinet-ful) of various remedies, none of which have had a lasting effect. How long did you take it before you saw results? Did you get it in Dubai? Where? Thanks for sharing!

Probably just closed on a Friday. Definitely the one at DIC closes on Fridays.
