Thanks! I sure hope she gets faster! More importantly she seems good with my LO. Daza - oh dear, wet bedsheet on the bed!!! I would have cried :(

Hi everyone, so she's here and I was looking forward to help as I've been struggling without. Today's her first day but she is super sloooooowwwww. I've always had part time maids from agencies come in and work so I roughly know how long cleaning my place should take. She took half an hour just to make my baby's bed (it's a cot!!!) how do I tell her without offending her? I know it's her first day but I should get the message across that she's expected to work faster now isn't it? Before it's too late and she's set in her ways?

ummmuhammad123 - what I meant was she would come back happy after her day off. If you were to compare one maid who had a day off a week (something to look forward to) to another who had no days off, I know for sure the one who had a day off to go out and mingle would be much happier. I couldn't agree more about perspective - cleaning toilets may seem like a horrid task for us but not to a maid who has left her country knowing what she will be doing to get a good salary and provide for her family back there. Wickedangel_78 - ur maid has a uniform? Am I expected to get mine a uniform? I thought she could just wear regular home clothes like the rest of us. If u don't mind me asking, why aren't u keen to get a maid from the Philippines? Thanks

Thanks very much ladies for the helpful responses. Especially about being clear about how we want things. I never actually thought about it, but I suppose it's like any other job where your employer has to tell you how to do certain things. That is very helpful. I would also give her a food allowance - that's a great idea. I too was confused about paying her after hours because I checked with quite a few friends who have maids and none do that. I suppose each to her own. I also checked with the agency and I've been informed that they are required to have 8 hours of rest a day and one day off a week. She will probably get more rest time as I'm a hands on mom and don't plan to have her look after him except the odd time when I'm not around and my place isn't huge. I do feel very strongly that a person doing any job (maid or highly qualified professional) needs their time off to unwind and recharge. We all come back to work feeling energized, enthusiastic and happy. I definitely feel that way and would love anyone living in my home to also have that positive energy and vibe. I couldn't live with someone who was overworked, tired and unenthusiastic which is bound to happen when u don't offer them due rest. Thanks and if anyone else has any other valuable advice based on past experiences to give, please do

But that would mean having to go down to their office.. The whole idea of shopping online is to avoid that and getting it at my doorstep! I will definitely enquire about this with them..hope it gets sorted and I'm not overcharged again. Thanks ladies!

I buy from RL using a nonUAE card (non US though) and didn't have any issue. How do you buy shoes from LKBennett? What if they don't fit well? I would love to buy from them but worried about the fit issue. Anyone know the returns policy using shopandship? Do u just return it directly to the store itself? And wouldn't shopping from crate and barrell be extremely expensive considering it'll weigh a lot??

Hi, I'm not sure if you've come across SRC recovery shorts? It's an Australian brand and comes highly recommended by friends from there. It's recommended by obstetricians. I'm quite keen to try it but they don't deliver to Dubai :( anyone knows abt this and if it's available at any pharmacies in Dubai?

Hi dahin21! I had morning sickness on and off till the end of my second trimester and found that I felt better when I went to work compared to days I was off at home. I hope that will be the case for u too :) best of luck and what worked for me was not to have dairy products in the mornings. Just some dry toast or crackers

Thanks angel joy for your reply - I appreciate it! I was hoping to hear from others who had purchased from www.babycare.nl but so far, no such luck :( just need some reassuarance and it would make my purchase decision an easier one. I'm new to this blog. Is there any way of privately messaging the other users as they may not be active currently? TIA!
