Hi EWers, So we have found some GORGEOUS bed sheets, however they are from Pottery Barn so as you can imagine, not cheap. I know you pay for what you get but I am just checking to see if anyone else has bought fitted sheets/bed covers/pillow cases at 500-800 thread count that weren't crazy price. The white company has also now closed. All advice welcome ?? TIA xx

Why don't you hire a limo and go bar hopping for a few hours, then end up at a nice venue. Oohhh that is an idea! Thank you FairyDust!

Hi EWers  I am completely stuck for ideas for my 30th Birthday here in Dubai. It will be around 15 - 20 people and I am wanting to start my 30's with a bang. I am not overly keen on the boat idea and Brunch seems a little too obvious. Would really appreciate some ideas from all you lovely ladies. Thank you

Great story to hear. Very encouraging for me who is barely 1 month old in Dubai, and searching for a Job frantically. Would like some pointers on finding a job, I have a finance and sales operations background. :) How is your CV? Having a strong CV is important. I advise you to make a list of the companies who specialize in the areas you are skilled in and begin by searching on their websites for vacant positions. That way you will contact them directly and direct contact is far better than third party contact. If you are here on your own, don't limit yourself to Dubai. Try Abu Dhabi, Ajman, UAQ... a position in one of the further out Emirates will earn less, cost less to live inland will strengthen your local experience. EvenQatar often has a number of vacancies The job section here and on dubizzle.com are two more direct contact places where your CV tends to get more visibility than on Linkedin and Bayt. Keep your ears open on the radio - many events are advertised on the FM that are great networking events. You are a brand: sell it. And make sure it [your brand'> is represented as it's best. Do some coursera work, edX sometimes has held events etc. It all accounts for something rather than having twiddled your thumbs in your unemployed ays. I wold advise the same as AdvernturerB - Linked in is a really good site to link up to people and employers that specialise within your profession. I found my first job on Dubizzle also, but as AB says, you need to sell yourself. There are so many people looking for jobs here and you need to stand out from the crowd, and in in your interview make a great impression, really study the company and know its background (they love that!) Recruitment companies can often charge a fee (either to the company or yourself, ok if it is the company), but they will have good companies working with them, usually. Good luck with the job hunting. :)

So nearly 3 years ago my then fiancé and I had just moved to Dubai with only our suitcases, fingers crossed and lots of praying for a new life here (we had no jobs or home). 3 years down the line we are now married, living a lovely villa, 2 adopted desert dogs and fantastic jobs. However, during the time we were first here it was so tough and we were literally down to our last dirhams and had secured a temporary apartment. I came on to Expat Woman A LOT asking advice and to see if people were selling super cheap items for our living. Not only were we given some fantastic advice but there was one lady who messaged me and gave us cutlery, glasses, a carpet and a bottle of champagne, saying 'welcome to Dubai'!! This generosity has stayed with me in the whole time we have been here. I have tried to contact her to offer her a huge thank you gift but I feel she may have left. Anyway, my point is I would love to pay it forward. If anyone on here is struggling, be it with finding work, needing home items or just advice then I would love to help :) Really this woman was so thoughtful, generous and extremely selfless it has been a huge inspiration that she would do something so kind! bye::heart::)

If it's Arafat Hajj there, then you can safely assume that it will be the same all over. I think the OP is saying the Friday might be dry so she is asking about the Saturday? Beachcombers do a nice Saturday brunch. Great location, good food, not sure about the bubbly. Wonderful, Thank you Daza :) I have taken a look and it looks perfect!!

If it's Arafat Hajj there, then you can safely assume that it will be the same all over. I just mean that if it falls on the 3rd then it will be a dry day for 24 hours and the same for 4th, so trying to keep my options open.

Hi EW, It is my birthday on 3rd October and I have friends coming from the UK and so I thought I would book my favourite Al Muna brunch, only to find that this is Arafat Hajj :( They have still taken my booking and said that they will let me know the day before if it will be dry this day but I cant risk waiting until then to make alternative plans. I have never done a Saturday brunch here. Can anyone advise from experiences, somewhere with great food, location and bubbly?? Thank you so much in advance. :)

It looks very hard to find a place what is included in the rent if you share and what sort of monthly cost would I be looking at? Would love some feed back Hi Zena27, Would you be interested in sharing? I could go up to 4k per month and so both of us could find somewhere to share if you are interested.
