14 Christmas Party Game Ideas

This time of year is all about spending quality time with your family, friends and loved ones. And there's no better way to help make everyone jolly than by participating in a good old-fashioned Christmas game! These ideas are great for all ages, so everyone can be involved in the festive fun. 

Enjoy them in the lead-up to Christmas, or at parties you attend, or even on Christmas Day itself after the food has been devoured, drinks poured and play some Christmas songs in the background! 

1. Family tree

The idea of this enjoyable came is to decorate a person as a Christmas tree... As long as someone is willing to! They must stand still and allow participants to decorate them in red and green crepe paper, aluminum foil, paper, candy, bows and wrapping paper! Use whatever you can find, and the best or first one to finish wins!

2. Fill the Christmas stocking

Divide everyone into teams, and have them race to fill their team's stocking with a spoonful of wrapped candy. First one to do so wins. 

3. Christmas card toss

It's simple, but extremely competitive! Everyone has to see how many cards they can get into the paper bin, or laundry basket, or cardboard box in an allocated amount of time.

4. Photo booth

Provide your family or guests with silly props and backdrops that they can use to get silly and festive in front of a camera! Definitely makes for some great photographic memories of your time together. 

5. Pin the red nose on Rudolph

A festive spin-off of the classic pin the tail on the donkey. Except you're pinning a nose, and it's on a reindeer. 

6. Christmas stocking guessing game

Fill a large stocking with different items from around yoru house, and let the kids guess what's in the stocking.

7. Two truths and a lie

A person tells three stories abotu themselves, two of which are true, and one which is not. The goal of the game is to determine which story of theirs is not true. You could start it, for example, with them telling stories about their worst Christmas gift, or most embarassing Christmas memory.

8. Holiday ABC's

Give each person or team a piece of paper with the alphabet written vertically from A to Z. Have them write a holiday word that starts with each letter. First one to complete the full list wins. 

9. Name that carol

Create a list of song lyrics with only 3 to 4 words from each song - bearing in mind, don't use the title! The person or team to name all of the songs in a certain amount of time, wins the game. 

10. Present hot potato

Pass around one unwrapped gift at a time. When the music stops, whoever holds it is out of the game, keeping the gift they are holding! Win!

12. Christmas trivia

Does your friends and family claim to know everything about Christmas? Challenge them to a Christmas trivia showdown! Players can compete for prizes or just ask questions throughout the day to keep everybody guessing. 

13. Most ugly Christmas jumper

Challenge your family and friends to find - and wear - the most ugly Christmas jumper they can find for the duration of the party of Christmas Day. 

14. Christmas memory game

Place Christmas items onto a tray, and give people one minute to memorise the items. Take the tray away, and have them write as many down as they can remember in just thirty seconds.
