Mother's Day Ideas

Here's our top ideas for making sure your Mum is spoiled rotten this day of Motherly love

Mothers are somewhat lucky to be in the UAE around this time of year, as there's actually 3 Mother's Day dates that can be followed here; the UAE, the UK and the USA dates. If your Mum is similar to some of the EW team's Mums, then when asked what she wants for Mother's Day, her response might be "just a few moments of peace and quiet." It makes it difficult, right? So whether you're a child wanting to spoil your Mum this year, or a lady wanting to treat the main lady in her life, or a husband or partner wanting to make the mother of your child's day extra special, here's some top ideas to get you started...

Mother's Day Gift Ideas

Breakfast in Bed

This is a fun thing to do for all the family for Mum today. Grab a swanky silver tray, with a flower in a glass and her favourite foods for breakfast. For example, a croissant or toast with butter and jams, with some coffee or tea might just go down a treat, and let the Mum in your life kickstart her day filled with yummy goodness! If she's a cereal lover, buy in her favourite and serve it with some fresh juice. Or even better - and this is our favourite - take the old school route of a full English breakfast, that way all of you can start the day's celebrations full and happy. We've got some great recipes here too, if you're stuck...

Flowers

If you're spending this Mother's Day separate from the leading lady in your life, then flowers is a perfectly lovely - and stress-free(!) - way of showing how much you love her. Flowers can easily be ordered online, and dispatched and delivered to your Mum's home. Opt for her favourite colour(s), type of flower and order lots of them!

Spa Date

This is one you can get in on too, if you'd like. Take your Mum to the nearest and best spa or salon or hairdressers for a day of well-deserved pampering! Don't worry if you can't tag along though, we're sure your Mum might like some relaxing and rejuvenating few hours to herself. Whether it's for a mani-pedi, massage, facial, hair or a full body treatment - we're sure she'll appreciate it.

Night on the Town

Whisk your Mother away for the evening; dine at one of the best restaurants the city has to offer, and then continue the night dancing away with some bubbles. It's not every week you get a chance to take your Mum out partying, to have a laugh and a good time. If she's not up for dancing, there's plenty of other things you can do on an evening; eating out, visiting landmarks, art galleries... The list is endless, and we're sure you'll be able to find an evening activity that your Mum will love!

Afternoon Tea

You could always stay at home on this special day, and just basically fuss over your Mum while she lays with her feet up. Part of this fussing around her can include a splendid thing called afternoon tea. Plus, if you're a husband wanting to treat the mother of his children, then get the kids involved! These afternoon tea recipe ideas are great for little ones to get involved with something fun for Mum!

Shopping

To be honest... Who needs an excuse? We think every lady loves a good shopping spree with their Mummys!

Gifts, gifts, gifts

The list of possible gifts for your Mother is endless, and what you buy, of course, wholly depends on her taste, style and favourites. If you're truly stuck, treat her with the all-time favourites: jewellery, candles, a good scarf, a hearty food hamper... Like we said, the list is long! But a gift for your Momma can be personal to both you as a family, and for her individually. Literally, you can personalise gifts nowadays! So why not look into that? Or buy her a gift that is suited to a hobby she likes, a particular interest or skill.

Mother's Day Cinema Trip

Go to the Movies

We can guarantee, the big silver screen will be graced by a very funny film, very feminine and very suited for a mother and daughter trip to the cinema around Mother's Day. So there will definitely be something to watch that you can see with her. Make a day of it! Grab lunch, watch the film, chomp on nachos (dessert for lunch, obviously...) and then indulge in a drink together afterwards. But if there's a more suitable film that you think your Mum will love - you must choose that, even if you hate it. Today is about sacrifice for the woman who birthed you!

Staycation

If you've got some cash to splash this Mother's Day, and you want to spoil her truly - then plan a staycation! Depending on your budget, you can stick to a nearby city or country, or even jet set off with her into the sunset around the globe! If you're both in separate countries, arrange to meet in your chosen country. Where there is a will, there is a way.
