Have spent the morning on realestate.com.au and have had a fairly good look around. My parents are thinking about retiring to northern NSW or southern QLD. Not being a Queenslander myself, I'm not too sure of the nicer areas.

From what I understand the market in Qld is generally quite depressed, so you could get a "do-er upper" for this price, but I guess the old addage is to buy in the best location is key. I would get on to realestate.com.au and look at the market and see what is available but also get some feedback on areas. Obviously the closer to the city the better but this also increases prices. You can look anywhere from the city to the Gold Coast to find Queenslanders.

have you considered Ipswich? (30minutes west of Brisbane) - heaps of old workers cottages etc there (old coal mining area) - I bought one last summer and now rent it out. There are some truly magnificent cottages and large old queenslanders there.

Are you looking to buy for removal to your location or to live in at that location? The beaudesert area is SW of Brisbane, a nice regional centre and full of odl worker's cottages.

Either really... But with a budget of about 500k, I would think that it means out of Brisbane?

Cobette, do you mean outside of Brisbane itself or still within Brisbane?

Can any Aussie ladies recommend nice areas south of Brisbane where it might be possible to buy a Queenslander? Many thanks.
