I think ceiling lights in a bedroom or living room are not the best. I prefer a table lamp or wall sconce in each corner at chest height.

No, bedroom ceiling lightings are definitely not outdated - you just need a well-designed lamp that suits your interiors. I, personally, still love ceiling lightings in the bedroom, and do have them installed. I bought mine from IKEA, and I absolutely love the product. I suggest you visit the IKEA website; there you will find a variety of shapes and designs of ceiling lights for your bedroom. They can give a really distinct and pretty look to the room and create a relaxing atmosphere.
