It really depends where you want to live in Auckland. If central (Ponsonby, Parnell etc) you could be looking at $500-$800 pw. If you are happy to live further out its a bit cheaper - but a longer commute if working central - and traffic can be a nightmare.
Food is expensive and you will need to buy a car to get around which means petrol etc
I haven't lived in Auckland for 5 years but know cost of living has definitely Increased - imagine you would want to be looking around NZD 90/100k min to live a comfy life. I'm sure you could do on less but it might mean living further out.
