I called Cara and they don't have any gold bars or coins. Does anyone know where I can find these in New Dubai. I don't want to make a trip all the way to the souk and find out that no one has any in store. Also, I have never invested in gold, but am keen to make a purchase based on the buying frenzy going on. Are there any tips anyone can share? Do I just buy the coin or bar based on the current price per gram? Are there any additional costs to this?

Hi, I just need a trim and don't want to spend a fortune for it... any suggestions on where to go? Prefer Marina area if possible :-) Thanks!!! You can go to this hair academy called Formula French Hairdressing Academy at Knowledge Village and get it done for free. I went there twice to get a trim and during both the time, they washed, cut and blow-dried my hair for free. They are basically students who are completing their course. However, before proceeding, they are instructed by their trainers in detail. Thus so far, I have been extremely satisfied with both my visits. I have been to an expensive salon, that people rave about here in this forum, a few times and left disappointed each time. With nothing to lose, I made an appointment at FormulA Academy but chose a senior stylist. I am so happy with the results. edited by umm on 18/04/2013

You need to see how much you will be using the metro vs taxis as the walk from Metro entrance on the Marina side to the actual metro station is actually quite a distance. You will be taking a stroller, or carrying baby, so may be a bit difficult if you've got to do it daily. I believe rentals are cheaper in JLT vs Marina, so something else to consider. You also mention that your son will be schooling in Oud Metha. Won't he need to be at school earlier, so why not stay closer to the school as opposed to work? Will baby be in a nursery school whilst you're at work? If so, you need to visit the nursery schools in both areas and choose a nursery school that you're comfortable leaving your LO at. Might be the deciding factor on areas too. Good Luck.

You need to study the terms and conditions. All schools and nursery schools have specific clauses about payments and refunds.

Hi My parents had solid teak furniture back home, and whenever there was a water stain, we would just leave it, and with time it would fade completely.

I've been going through my ample wardrobes and they are bulging with clothes yet I feel like I have nothing to wear. I would like to know what the average wardrobe essentials are and how many of each item you have. Like how many dresses, on average, would someone own, both casual and dressy. How many trousers, jeans, tops, shoes, sandals, etc. I would like advice, so that I can start trimming my closets, but still have essentially enough to keep me going. Ladies, please help me before I become a hoarder.

IKEA used to have a plate in the candles section that you could try. It was clear with a raised bottom for less than 10 dhs. Not sure if this still keep it and if it's still less than 10 dhs. Maybe you can try that if you happen to go to ikea.

Hi Marthabelle Me again, may not be the same bag as I don't see it on the uk site. Glad that you were able to return your purchase and are still able to order the same bag. I really do like my bag, but this will just make me think twice before just purchasing in future. Looks like we should do research before we purchase anything in future. Go armed with your ipad or smartphone, lol. On a more serious note, This just makes the whole DSS and DSF look like such a farce. I feel sorry for the innocent people who are lured here for the sales who fork out for flights and accommodation. Online shopping here I come.

Hi Marthabelle Was it a tan rectangle shaped bag? I think I bought the same bag in their 'Sale' too. I like the bag, but disappointed about the ethic behind the sale pricing. edited by umm on 08/07/2012

Not sure about Sephora. If I'm not mistaken Sephora at MOE don't stock Clinique.

Hi Marthabelle Is it possible to send me a message withh the name of the store as I am planning to buy a bag soon. I really don't want to fall into the same trap. Not sure if you're allowed to post the name of the store here to save a few more people.

Spicy Pepper, if it's an international brand, why don't you check the brand's website or online shop and see what the original price is and do a price conversion. The local price should be close to the original price. It's such a pity that you can't share the store name to save someone else from making the same mistake.

Lexieberry, check out their website and decide from there. Deciding on whether or not to sign up for it again. The initial boxes were not up to much, and I see that for the July box they've thrown in the year's 'favorite'. Asking if anyone is willing to share what was in their July glamboxes as I think it could just be leftover samples from previous months. So, not sure if it's worth it if you're getting repeat samples. If you liked the product, you'd already have the full size product, and if not, will probably trash the extra sample? The boxes that the samples come packaged in are so nice. Any ideas on what to use them for?

There's a customer service desk as you enter the mall from the bridge connecting the metro to the mall, on your RHS. Stop and confirm directions listed below. Happy Shopping.

I've bought my daughter toweling dresses from Debenhams. You can find them with the swimsuits. I have also bought her toweling gowns from h&m. I bought her winter gowns from Okaidi and next, but she never wore them, so a bit of a waste of money there. I have also seen thin gowns at Woolworths. Good Luck.

Hi I'm still fairly new to Dubai, so don't really know the prices of things here. I went into a store and picked up a sandal that was on sale. It had a huge written tag with the before and after price. Was 375, now 199. On closer inspection, the pre sale price was still at the bottom of the sandal. It was 220 dhs before the sale. I don't like false advertising, and honestly, for 20dhs reduction, I'd rather just buy something that's from the new collection. This is the reason I ask which stores actually have real sales on. I'm looking for good quality clothes, shoes and handbags that aren't too pricey. Nothing too trendy either.

Why don't you read up on the Beautypedia site and see what the cosmetics cop's review of these two products are. If you're interested in the Oil of Olay, Carrefour has a great offer. Two moisturizers (day and night) and the cleanser in a box for about 77dhs. Good Luck.

From the Beautypedia site, I've narrowed down my choices to Estee Lauder and Clinique ranges. On the day i went to purchase, the lady at the counter wasnt too helpful and with the difference in prices between what was listed online and in the store, I decided not to buy. Anyone use both the ranges, and can advise on which is better and why. Are there huge price differences between the two brands? Which stores have decent sales assistants that can help and advise on best products, and not just try to make a quick sale? Also, which stores here are more competitively priced? edited by umm on 15/03/2012 edited by umm on 15/03/2012
