I was diagnosed with PCOS 3 years ago by Dr Nirmala, she is a gynae now at Sulaiman Habib Medical Center in healthcare city. I am also on Glucophage (Metformin) , in some cases PCOS can cause insulin resistance and hence too much weight gain, I have both and have to be on Glucophage to keep things under control.

Thank you again ladies! DubaiCat and sydneygal I will get this cloth soon! I did put 3 dummies in DD's cot last night, she woke, found one and then turned and saw another one and then she sat up...picked that up..pulled herself up on the cot and threw it out of the cot! Repeated the same with the other dummy! Was quite funny to watch but then she was quite awake after! She has never liked anything in her cot...not even a blanket! So this cloth with the dummies might be a better idea :) Unless she decides to throw that out as well!

Thank you for clarifying sandfly! Feel so silly now! Am sorry kiwispiers!! My DD has only just started putting the dummy in her mouth herself, she can hold it but could never put it in her mouth right! I will continue giving her the dummy myself for a while till she gets the hang of it. Again, truly sorry kiwispiers! I misunderstood!

@kiwispiers I started this thread to get some advice, I am a first time mum and I am only trying to ensure my baby gets enough sleep. I have friends who have babies around the same age, some even younger, who sleep through and I read in a few articles that by this age babies should be sleeping through hence my confusion! I don't mind waking up and taking care of my baby, but if there is something I can do to make her sleep better I will! I am sorry if I misunderstood what you may be trying to say but to me it just came across as wrong and a bit condescending.

Thank you for the replies! Glad to know I am not the only one ;) I will try the sippy cup although she still doesn't have a good grip on it and might end up spilling all over herself! The crying it out am not so sure as we tried it once and she ended up throwing up! But I would like to get a full night's sleep some time soooon ;) I was reading somewhere about diluting the formula gradually and eventually giving water so the baby stops waking up once they realise they only get water! Does this work? Has anyone tried it?

Hi! I had my baby shower at a friend's home and I personally feel its much more comfortable..as DXBchica said there were decorations, cake, food and lots of good friends and family around :) I guess your main focus should be where the mommie to be would be most comfortable and then organise it there! Oh and for party supplies you can order them online through Party Souq...they deliver to you! Cheers! edited by tanya80 on 10/01/2012

Hey Moonbean! How r u and LO doing? My DD has the same thing going on...it started when we started feeding her and I spoke to the doc about it coz she cudnt have been allergic to everything!! Nothing to worry he said, it happens because they tend to spill and drool while eating and that may cause rashes on their sensitive skin...just ensure that you clean well after meals and it should dissipate...but do see your doc incase its some kind of allergy... Cheers! Tanya edited by tanya80 on 08/11/2011

I am def interested! @kiwispiers I have a lot of extra bottles from medela..hence am very inclined to try the second hand option..massive cost difference as well! Thank you for your inputs ladies :)

Hello Ladies, I have a 7 week old and i exclusively pump for her as she was never able to latch on..I used a Medela Harmony but the membrane has already worn out :( and am using another Medela manual pump now. I am looking to go back to work in the next 3 weeks and want to switch to an electric pump. I have read some great reviews for Medela Freestyle and Medela Swing...but am confused which one to buy...I need something that can be used daily. Also if any of you ladies are looking to sell either of these pumps please do let me know...thanks! Tanya

Hello Ladies, Thank you very very much for your wishes and all your thoughts, makes me feel so much better now :) Tried BFing today also but she just refuses and is so much happier drinking from the bottle. I am going to keep trying but if it does not work I have no issues pumping every 3 hours and sterilizing etc. Takes me about 10 minutes to feed her and 15-20 mins to express...another 15 for sterilizing and I'm done and from what I have read BFing does take about 40-45 minutes..so I guess from the time involved I am spending the same amount...I just want her to be happy and healthy :) Will see how it all goes! Once again thank you for being so supportive :) Tanya

Hi Everyone, Our little princess Ayana arrived on May 3rd 03:26 AM, she weighed 3.32 kgs and is 53 cms tall...absolutely in love with her :) So all the backpain I felt that day was infact labour! Was 3 cm dilated and had 3 contractions every 10 mins...waters had to be broken to get things going and ended up with a C section as her heartrate started to decelerate...but overall had a great experience...all the staff at City Hospital has been fantastic...absolutely loving the experience now :) All the best to everyone and hope things go well for all of you... Cheers! Tanya

Hahahaha...my DH has the same reason!! I was 36 weeks 3 days when she did my first internal check...after that have been going to her weekly and she has been checking on every visit..things had stalled for me for abt 2 weeks in between and had progress at my last visit yesterday...I am just so uncomfortable now so when she offered to sweep I agreed to it...but like I said I haven't felt any change after that so perhaps the wait will continue for me :) You also have just 2 weeks to go! Am sure u're super excited now and cannot wait! The last few weeks do feel the longest!!!!

Hey Moonbeam...am in my 40th week now...39 weeks 3 days to be exact :) Am glad ur doc has finally agreed not to do the monitoring as it really did not seem relevant...and its worse since u were paying for it! Very surprised though that she hasn't done an internal yet...u r 37 weeks or thereabouts right?? Perhaps u cud ask her next time... After the sweeping yesterday I thought things might happen today but nothing! I do know about the bit to get DH involved but he is super scared!! ;) I am considering it if nothing happens today either! Its our first so both of us are rather anxious and scared at the same time! How have u been feeling though? Sleep any better? Ask DH to massage u...it has helped me a lottttt...sleep like a baby after :) All the best! edited by tanya80 on 01/05/2011

So update on baby front...had my exam today and things have progressed! Only problem was BP which was 89 systolic which isn't a good thing...Doc offered to do sweep the membranes and I agreed so now we wait! If nothing happens I am scheduled for an induction on May 5th...the official due date :) A few more days to go! Cannot wait :D

Thank you Lucy! Very helpful info...mine don't seem to be BH as moving around or changing position hasn't made them go away...but they are still far apart and not very intense...so I guess there is still some more time to go :)

I know what you mean moonbeam! I am so confused whether it is real or false labour...but am hoping when it truly does happen i know! I had my first internal exam at 36 weeks...perhaps u wud have urs at ur next check...other than a scan to check baby's heartbeat and an internal exam u shud not have anything else done unless there is a true need for it...hope all goes well!

Many Congratulations Shijicecil! Hope you and the baby are doing well :) Am past 39 weeks now and hoping its time soon! Its my first and I thought I wud be ready by now :) Lucy/Moonbeam good to hear you both doing well...but am surprised at the amount of monitoring both of you have been offered...I guess I am lucky with my doc coz she is doing only what is necessary and nothing more...had my appointment at 38 weeks + and all she did was a quick scan to see heartbeat and an internal exam to check progress. She did offer to strip the membranes if conducive but when she checked it was still early so decided not to. But looks like things are progressing now for me...have had some show since yesterday! and some mild off and on contractions...still confused whether they are BH or a sign of early labour! Counting the hours now...hoping things get underway soon! Cannot wait!!!
