Ooh looks like a different subject has popped into this thread ! Back to the maid business, no she didn't turn up at the airport & just continued to send messages saying " ma'am I'm not ready to leave yet, you cannot force me to go, I still have 5 days" It's all in the hands of immigration now, cannot do any more ! Yep a note was made at the police station at the airport last night and then Immigration will deal with it on Sunday ! I must have been more delusional than the maid to think she would get on that flight !

Just spoke to my maid on the phone and she is already refusing to go to the airport saying that her 30 days are not up yet (5 days left) and still wants to look for another job ! This is just crazy, I don't want the responsibility of her anymore but she seems to think she can stay till the bitter end !

Couldn't help but share this one with you... Listening to the radio this week a particular ''baby-toddler'' shop was advertising a 25% discount for all baby & car seats ! Now we all love a discount but REALLY ?? Is that what it takes to prompt one to purchase a child safety car seat ? It's usually the one's driving around in their flashy expensive cars that we see the little one's jumping around all over the place while the parents are all sefely buckled in themselves without a thought for their kids in the back ! Somehow I don't think that a 25% discount is going to make the slightest bit of difference to their mentality !

Well said Desertedbeach... The obsession here with degrees is crazy ! I'm so glad to read that the majority on this blog are swaying towards the experience. A building site is a dangerous place to be for any employee and even worse for the ''management degree holder'' with very little site experience. Unfortunately the pressure is always on to recruit with degrees ! With a degree there are many many important factors that just do not get covered in the classroom or text book, ie, communication skills, people management etc.. Therefore I feel the one with many years experience is a far better choice.

My parents hae a place in Bulgaria ''sunny beach'' I believe it's called.. We've been there a couple of times and it's a beautiful country. Beaches are stunning and a very cheap place for all. Locals are lovely and friendly.

Personally I feel that Degree holders prove one thing... That they are able to study and absorb information from a book, most youngsters that i've met holding degrees don't appear to have the ''common sense'' that is gained from hands on and people skills. If we go back 30 years, generally degree holders were either Teachers, doctors, lawyers etc.. It appears nowadays there are degrees for everything !

mmm this is interesting, my daughter last year was made to do the full 9 till 6 throughout Ramadan just because she was a receptionist, even though everyone else in the office went home at 4. She's expecting a baby now and will be 7 months when Ramadan starts this year, surely her boss (who is not very pleasant by the way) cannot expect her to work the full hours again this year in her condition ?

I wouldn't talk to the bank... Perhaps she can take out a loan to cover the CC debt - at a lower interest rate and over a longer term Take a second job to make ends meet - such as babysitting, pet sitting, in a coffee shop - anything to earn extra cash. Sell her car and take public transport. Sorry but running away from debt (especially credit card) is immoral. By the time she takes public transport, & gets a second job the poor woman wouldn't even have time to sleep !!! well it's better than being in debt...... True but if she overworks herself she will end up making herself ill, and end up in more debt ! Sorry if i'm sounding negative here but i watched a close friend work herself almost into the ground !

Thanks ladies for all your great advice. My daughter has had a check up allseems fine but the placenta is quite low. Nurse has given her an injection to thicken the membrane & pills to stop any bleeding.. A swab has been taken to be sent for analysis.. I guess this is a normal procedure ?

Hi, Have you tried booking this on the internet instead of using a local company? Car hire 3000 (www.carhire3000.com) are really cheap and i often use them.

Hi, I once stayed in a fully furnished apartment for a week in Dubai Marina, in the Marina Diamond 1 building and it was really cheap and quite nice... we booked it with My Stay Group, (www.mystaygroup.com i think) the place slept 6 people and was like 600 pound for the week, so im sure they'll have something even cheaper for a smaller apartment. Hope this helps..

Hi, I didnt have a breast up lift but i had implants in September last year at Dubai Cosmetic Surgery by Dr Ahmad Ghanem, and he was amazing, and so was the aftercare. It took months of researching and consultations to find the best place and they definitely were! I recommended them to a friend who then went to have a up lift done by him a few weeks after me and she was so happy with the results and the scars. Heres their website: http://www.dubaicosmeticsurgery.com Good luck with it all

So sad and shocking ! I would be devasted if I didn't have a close relationship to my daughter and she felt the need to hide something like that from me.. If only that poor girl could have shared her problem with her parents, they could have sent her back to the uk to deal with it without having to have gone through this awful ordeal !
