Hi Ladies.... Kylah congrats on your twin babies!! I'm now into my 21st week and growing ever so much!! Still working full time and don't think could even make a twin support group as I'm currently streched btw 2 primary school aged kids, work and all that jazz... I've been doing two classes a week at Bodytree - pre natal yoga & pilates to take the edge of those aches and pains..They are evening classes which suit me. Ladies - thanks for all your advice re options and twin support groups in AUD. Kylah - I'm also looking at the option of also delivering at Al Noor Hospital with a Dr. Sally from the Walaa Clinic. I have my first visit with her at 28 weeks as she is very booked up. Dr. Sally came recommended from a friend so I can't say how she is yet. Dr. Tank cannot deliver anywhere so I've put this on hold. And I may also sign up with City Hospital Dubai as I'm originally a Dubai gal myself - but this is like my last option as I'm worried about bubbies and neonatal care. Warning - I had my first appt - same day I opened my file on 3rd of October at the Corniche and it was 6 hours later that finally everything got done & super slow. It's an administrative nightmare. I'm sure the birthing exp might be diff with the expat midwives but the ante natal appts are just too long for already hormonal preggos!! My next question - I have daman premier insurance card that covers me in private/public hospitals in the UAE - best of covers so money isn't an issue for us. Where would you deliver for a private experience if your insurance covered everything? Is there a private/speciality wing at the corniche that expats wtih excellent coverage could access as opposed to only the Locals/deplomats/royalty?

Thanks for all the advice. Busybee2 - you put me at ease :-) It seems to be the norm that public hospitals across the UAE are the ones with well equipped ICU for babies.... I'm more and more leaning towards seeing a private Obstetrician and signing up with the Corniche Abu Dhabi hospital for the delivery of my TWINS - it's crazy - still can't get my head around it!! I'm only 17 weeks, I'm very petite and already look massive! - all stomach though so I hope it stays that way!! At least I know I have options, but know that I'll be missing out on that lovely private hospital experience I had in Australia :-( With full time work and my children's schedules to juggle, I really don't want to be wasting time at the corniche for antenatal appts when it could be done within 30 minutes to an hour at a private clinic. <em>edited by Rouls on 18/09/2012</em>

Thank you all for the congrats and for all that useful info. It's almost been 7 years since being pregnant and kind of freaking out I'm having twins. Maybe the support group will put me at ease - so I'm looking forward to those details Jackie re your friend running a twins support group :-) I have my first appt. booked at the corniche hospital on 3rd of October and they have already assigned me to the doctor team and not the midwives team - so hoping it all goes smooth and I'll feel right about everything. I'm certainly not looking forward to the long antenatal visits as I work full time and have my two kids schedules to work around. I'm also thinking about getting my antenatal visits done by private obstetrician like Dr. Tank and just delivering at the corniche. Is that advisable? Could anyone recommend any gyno/obst that are specialist with twins or have the expat approach to things? thanks

Hi, I'm new to this whole forum thing but lately have been reading a lot of threads regarding pregnancy and hospitals in Abu Dhabi. I have delivered twice in Australia, first time in a public hospital and second time in private. Couple of questions - 1. Corniche hospital appears to be the hospital of choice for delivering twins as it has one of the best fully equipped NCU. Is there any private hospitals in abu dhabi or dubai that could provide a more private service but have the facilities to care for sick babies? 2. I currently work full time in abu dhabi and have a lot of questions in relation to pregnancy and delivery in the UAE. Is the forum the place to shoot away with questions or would you recommend a twins support group for people pregnant with twins? I'm currently 16 weeks pregnant and want to get in early with registering with a hospital etc.
