I really loved staying at the One & Only, but felt that it was expensive!

That's lovely. Especially I was at an event last week about Happiness and one of the key messages was that material things don't make us happy, but giving and random acts of kindness do, see http://www.thebrainandlearning.com/Home.html and click on the happiness button if you are interested! Amazing example from your DD. Well done!

Most typing centres do it also. I did ours at Harrods in Gold & Diamond Park.

I can only go on my experience so not sure about the anecdotal evidence, but deciding on medication is no easy decision. The cost was no more than I would pay for tutoring also. Finally we saw two doctors before medication and I have to say both Dr Amer and the other one from Lighthouse (can't remember her name), both suggested brain training before medication. I think you are very right, it is vital to do your due diligence and find the right solution for you and your circumstances.

Before you decide on Medication, I would certainly try brain training. We were at a very similar crossroads 2.5 years ago. THe Ed Psych recommended The brain & Learning (04-4534170) for a program of brain training and we have not looked back since! No medication needed post training (although I do know that this is not always the case). Pooneh the Director also gave us tons of research and helped us make an informed decision!

I went to a brilliant talk on the Science of Motivation a few months ago at The Brain & Learning. The director Pooneh gave the talk. Contact her 04- 4534170. It was so different than what I expected and really amazing!

Feel the leaves. If they are crunchy, then too dry. If yellow but soft, then too much water. You can buy plant feed in supermarkets, small blue boxes with flowers on them. Add some of the round balls and they flower well!

I do think you should give brain and learning a go. I know at this point it seems hard to fit in the training but it's for a limited time. Just think of all the time you would gain for all the years to come and think of your child's confidence! I started with one child (i was nervous at that point) only to enroll the other. I think it is about the only thing to do with education that I always recommend to friends. My sister is so desperate to do it with her kids, she is moving to Dubai next summer from London! Don't let fear hold you back!

We bought a house in AR last summer and Dimple from Better Homes was great. She was organised and always contacted me with details. Also, Deepika from House Hunters was wonderful. Very very motivated! (though mainly works in AR)!

Do you know, they like hiding when they are sick! Just look for dark, safe hiding places! My frien's cat went missing for 2 days and they found it hiding in the corner of the garden in the bbq! Good luck!

Bless you! It sounds like you are having a tough time. I took my son to Bakti for OT and he really made good progress with his motor skills (fine & gross) as well writing. All in all I was very happy with Bakti. She was very hard on him but that is how she got results from him. Good luck with everything!

Oh I am so glad I saw this post! Because I might just have your miracle cure! First of all here is the email of this lady Rachel Jex who organises the ADHD support group: [email protected] The nest one will be on late September. As for my own case, Dr Bakti from Dubai Community Centre told me to take my son for an assessment at The Brain and Learning. They have a research based program from US and do attention and brain training. It is very intensive (5 times a week for 3 months) but it was LIFE CHANGING not only for my son but for my whole family. He is a different child. So if I were you I would at least go for the assessment and check it out. My neighbour started her daughter's training this month and I know they are really really full and putting names on waiting lists but I would do any thing to get on that list. The only thing is I am not sure what age they start with. Just look for them on google! Let me know how you get on. Good luck! Be BRAVE. There is help out there.

Would like to agree with Trixibell's comments on 'The Brain and Learning'. My DD has been having brain training and we have noticed a big difference in her confidence too. Her teacher at school can't believe the change in her attitude - she actually seems happy to be there, is participating in lessons, even putting her hand up to answer questions which just never happened before. Her reading age was tested at school last week and has gone up significantly. She is now picking up a book and reading on her own which was something I never thought would happen. Even Maths, which until now has been torture for her, doesn't seem to be so bad. She was delighted with herself last week when she passed a mental maths test - first time ever!! Can't thank Pouneh and her team enough
