Hello, we are planning to move to Al Raha Beach in August from Dubai. With two small children as well - the beach and communal swimming pools was the selling point for us - hope to see you there!

Definitely say Tips and Toes is the place to go, there seems to be someone getting their eye lash extensions there every time I go.

We have bought most of our children's furniture from the Ikea in the UK, and it has travelled well to Dubai.

Just recently bought some heavy duty ones at ACE next door to Ikea in Festival City - you can even hang light wait curtains on these - absolutely brilliant if husband is not so keen on DIY!

Is anyone else looking for a western nanny? Maybe we could help each other. The three nanny agencies out here I have contacted have not even returned my calls.

Just in case you need another recommendation Les Trotter at Expattax has advised us very well on some pretty complicated UK Tax stuff so far.

Hi Steph, we are new to Dubai as well and last week when my parents came over we were faced with a similar dilemma so I bought a copy of Time Out, which lists all the Friday Brunches, location, the price, type of food etc. We have small children so were drawn to the kid friendly ones and so far have tried and really enjoyed, the Emirates Golf Club and Movenpick (Jumeriah Beach Residence) both around 300 AED mark If you want to break the budget, I have heard that Al Qasr, Madinat Jumeirah is the one to go for -500 AED/person. Hope you have a lovely time with you parents!

Hi Khatoon, I only have contacts still in Dubai and UK. However, Deloitte's global website lists all current vacancies in any of its 4 practice areas, Tax, Audit, Consulting and Finance. I got my job in the UK by simply submitting my CV via their online careers portal and would suggest that your husband does the same. Wishing him all the best, these are difficult times to be job hunting.

NKD are excellent we have ordered several times even when the in-laws were here and had great service. You actually start to think that ordering pizza is a healthy and delicious option x

Babyshop might be worth a try in Ibn Battuta Mall or Dubai Mall. Dubai Mall also has lots of very expensive Baby clothing if you fancy a bit of designer stuff on them - paid for by grandparents:) Although personally after having two babies myself Baby Gap for clothes worked a treat especially the socks which have grips underneath and the Baby Gap annual sales which are well worth a visit every time for good discounts. Sorry probably not answering your actual question. Best of luck with baby!

I previously worked for Deloitte so could possibly help but I don't really understand what your husband is looking for? Being a CA doesn't restrict him to the Big4. Also why Canada? If he really wants to work for the Big4 he should ideally move to a location where they have a large workforce and lots of employment opportunities.

However, on that note we did know the car we were buying rather well as we had the same one in the UK!. So knew reasonably what to look for.

After much hesitation (lasting several weeks - debating should we or shouldn't we) we finally bought our car from Dubai Star in the Automarket in Ras Al Khor and I have to say received very good customer service, they arranged our car insurance, salik tag, car service etc, overall it was very good value. I am also pleased to say the car is still running very well.

We wanted somewhere on the Springs/Lakes area started off just using Dubizzle but then we went to visit a villa in the Lakes and about 10 agents turned up. I really liked the villa so we made an offer on the spot. Not the right thing to do clearly as the agents then started arguing over who would get the commission. Funnily enough our offer was apparently rejected by the landlord. So I phoned up Allsop told them that I wanted the villa, with the same offer as yesterday and they had an agreement from the landlord that day. So definitely go with a proper agent like Allsop & Allsop and avoid the one man bands.

Gentle bump. Just got quotes from BusyBees and Nannies Dubai for 5 days a week after-school care, 1-6pm. BusyBees quoted approx 4,000 AED/month and Nannies Dubai want 3,000 upfront and approx 2,500 /month. Has anyone tried these agencies recently? Is the pricing about right? Any other suggestions?

We are in the Lakes and have signed up to a home package from Du, this covers broadband, telephone and TV. It was actually very simple and took two days from when we signed up. The nearest branch is in Internet City, next to Business Central Towers.
