Thanks lizard. Well last night I was a bit callous again, mentioning to my husband that I didn’t have enough bed space (with all my pillows and boppie – my maternity pillow, it’s actually called ‘boppie’), which led him to have a miserable night sleeping at the edge of his side of the bed. I’m at 32 weeks now and for the past few days have experienced fairly pronounced back and lower ligament pain. It certainly doesn’t help that I’m all forward bump now, and quite a protruding bump at that. Hopefully some pool time and the prenatal video that DH has downloaded will help. Have a wonderful afternoon ladies!

Good afternoon ladies, hope you are all well. At 32 weeks now, it looks like I’ve traded in heart burn for back ache/ligament pain as I’m all forward bump, and a sizable one at that too. Trying to get some pool time and DH downloaded a prenatal yoga class to do at home, so hopefully that will be sorted. Also, signed up for prenatal classes at Health Bay PolyClinic beginning on Friday 14 September. Anyone else going? I’ve had my fair share of tactless comments these past weeks, mostly chastising me for wearing (low) heels at work. What they don’t seem to understand is that looking and dressing well for me at this point is also motivating me to take better care of myself … eating right (a lot of green and leafy veggies, milk, fish, etc…), as well as exercise. We have our doctor’s appointment this Wednesday with Dr. Britt, which is always exciting as it brings us closer to the due date (October 31), though I will address this back/ligament pain as of late. From reading your posts, it looks like many of you are sorted with the nursery details and the hospital bag. Good on you! We’ve managed the car seat and the crib only, still quite a ways to go. Have a great afternoon everyone!

Good afternoon ladies. At 31 weeks I am now fed up. This afternoon at my desk I was feeling so tired and my back hurt that I ended up crawling under my desk for a bit of a lie down. Thankfully I have an office so I wasn’t disturbed, and the cold marble floor helped sort my back a bit. However, right now I’m debating whether or not to hit the gym upstairs, and it looks like a no go. Sadly the snoring I’ve developed the past few months is really keeping DH up at night, who tries to snuggle with me (as he's awake for the most part now), but I’m getting supremely annoyed with this invasion of bed space. Really unfair of me I know, as he does do those little extras for me i.e. buying organic fruit for my snacks and driving me to Wendy’s at 11pm when I have a milk shake craving. Ok, back to work I guess. Have a great evening all.

Good afternoon ladies. Looking forward to the start of the weekend. Awayfromhome16, UmmShamsa and Aurora thank you for your pet stories. Interesting to see pet reactions or lack of thereof. As you can imagine, Dalmatians are quite feisty, so we’ll have to make sure they’re both relatively calm around the little one. I’ve also signed up for the HB PolyClinic antenatal classes that begin on September 14. Hope to meet some of you there. We’ll be the tall German (DH) and petite Canadian/Indian (moi) couple there. Got the results of the glucose test last week and everything is in the clear. Weight gain is also quite good so far (about 6 kilos), so the healthy eating is definitely helping. Made a great pasta bake last night with whole wheat penne, salmon, cottage cheese, sour cream , tarragon, mustard powder, broccoli, spinach and some parmesan cheese sprinkled on top. Happy to get my calcium, omega 3, and green veggie intake. I’ve also been working out with a pre natal trainer these past 6 months, safely enjoying running, squats, some core work and the like but now feeling a bit sore and in need for proper stretches. I’ve heard some great comments that you’ve posted about Zen yoga, just wished the one in town centre, right around the corner from me, would offer prenatal classes. Are you all planning to go back to work afterwards? How much time off are you taking? I’ll have the mandatory 45 days and a full month of vacation that I’ve racked up, and then part time/home work next January. Sadly I can’t take any additional time as I work in the hospitality industry and my company is opening up a new hotel in December, followed by another one next March.

Good morning ladies I’m somewhat new to this forum as I’m following the October due date forum (I’m due on October 31), but I’ve enjoyed reading your posts and have gained some great insights as well. DH and I are expecting our first baby, and have most of the scans and testings done (I hope). I just received my results for a gluclose test and all seems fine. We’re delivering at City Hospital with Dr. Britt and have our second appointment with her tomorrow. ClareJLT regarding your question on maternity clothes, I actually purchased a few items online from Isabella Oliver which was a nice change from some of the bulkier maternity clothing options out there. They have some very nice wrap around dresses, tops, trousers, etc… DH certainly got a kick out of some of the pieces as he was surprised that mat clothing could look so stylish. We’ve also been looking at the antenatal classes at Health Bay and at City, and while I like the pay as you go method at City, I was hoping for some weekend classes (which HB offers). I’m working up until the delivery, so my week nights are normally free to relax and go to the gym, so evening classes might be a bit much. Anyone have any pets? Have you experienced any different/peculiar behaviours? Our little rescue Dalmatian has taken up resting his head on my bump in the evenings and our older Dalmatian has become very protective of me all of sudden, following me as I move from room to room. Have a great day ahead!

Thanks gingerdee. The SensAsia one was very good but a bit too pricy, especially as this is something that I want to start doing every second week now, it really helps with the fluid retention. And congratulations on the villa! We’ve been in the Springs for almost two years now with our dogs and it has worked out well. Skipped the glucose test this morning as I was feeling not too well, so have it scheduled tomorrow. Really not looking forward to it. Anyone getting their home/apartment sprayed this summer because of bugs? We had the second floor of ours done and avoided the house for some hours, but did end up staying that night on the ground floor. I could still smell the pesticide, albeit faintly. Drove myself crazy thinking how this would affect the bump. Hopefully all is ok. We have another spray scheduled for this Saturday for the ground floor/kitchen and I may just check into a hotel that night. Don’t want to chance it again.

Good morning ladies ~ Nice to read that the glucose testings went fine for you all. I have mine next Wednesday and dreading the no eating and especially no water for 12 hours. Has anyone had a prenatal massage? Any recommendations? I checked with SensAsia spa on the Palm and they seem to have a nice selection of mother to be massages and treatments. I sorely need this as I seem to be retaining a lot of fluid this week to the point that I can't get my wedding band off! That combined with the excessive burping, stuffy nose and heart burn is making me particularly endearing to DH this week, who is probably looking forward to week 40 when I finally stop complaining. Thanks and enjoy the weekend ahead!

Great to see the comments here about Dr. Britt on this forum. We met with her last week and are now at ease for the delivery. My husband was sold on her when he saw photos of her dogs on her desk and then decided to show her ours. :) Next on the list is a tour of City Hospital, followed by antenatal classes at either City or Health Bay. Has anyone tried the antenatal yoga at Zen? I have a prenatal personal trainer for the past 4 months who is brilliant and has kept me in great shape, but I need to work on my flexibility at this point.

Scurry - I'm due one day after you - October 31! Have yet to take the glucose test but have one scheduled shortly. Anyone working throughout their pregnancy? Are you going back to work afterwards? I'll take the 45 days paid leave which is mandatory in UAE, followed by about 27 days of vacation days racked up. I'm feeling guilty though as that might not be enough time off. Workpace is great about it though and will look into the possibility of part time work when I'm back. Let me know if you're struggling through the same.

Good afternoon all. Has anyone done a gluclose tolerance test yet? I have one scheduled in two weeks at City Hospital.

Hello all - due date on October 31 so I'm feeling closer to the November thread. Challenge right now is that I'm not used to private medicine here and the rescrictions on my insurance plan - it only covers delivery up to AED 10,000 and C section upwards to AED 15,000. Scans at the Fetal Medical Centre are paid out of pocket. On the upside, I have a great pre natal personal trainer and continue on doing a lot of the exercises I previously enjoyed, but in moderation, as well as ordering some lovely maternity clothes from the Isabella Oliver website in the UK. Still battling the heart burn but energy levels are at an all time high which is great. Anyone planning to continue working after the mandatory 45 days mat leave?

Anyone know if Thin Mints (Girl Guide cookies) are available in Dubai?
