We go there with the family at least twice a year - Quick escape from Dubai, and the kids love it. Ours are a little bit older, so they really enjoy the kids club there, and the open air restaurant in the desert is one of our favorites. Can get a bit chilly though at night. I'll check out the 7days travel website (I saw on their FB that they have a travel deals section) and might book a weekend with DH and the kids before the weather starts turning and we leave for the summer! Thanks for the tip.

I was on the 10th floor of my building and the whole floor felt it - We hurried down the stairs.....and then were the only floor that evacuated! People on the 5th, 6th and 7th floor that I later asked said they did not feel a thing! Business as usual on the lower floors Very strange......

My favorite is IF boutique on (I think) Umm al Sheif Road - just google it. It has some high end alternative brands - she will not be disappointed.

These days I always check out websites like Cobone, Groupon or RihlaPrime.com for travel ideas plus very good discounts. I think at the moment there is an amazing offer on Rihlaprime for the maldives. No better place to recharge for few days!!!

Villa prices have been going up in the past few months so at the moment they are probably a better option... you might even get some capital gain. However, if I were to put my money as investment, I would get a flat in Old Town. Villas are more difficult to maintain and also the areas you are considering may go out of fashion as new villas are finished, but Dubai Mall and the Burj area will always be sought after and easier to resell. Hope this helps.

I cannot talk about Al Maha, but Qasr Al Sarab is the best resort I have ever been to. Time slows down in the middle of the desert and you recharge in a day!!! The service was beyond my expectations and the views of the endless desert while cooling down in my private pool were amazing. I have heard great things about Al Maha as well. I am sure you will not be disappointed whatever choice you make! Good luck with the competition... I am sure Qasar Al Sarab is even better for free :)
