Yes, same problem too. Hair falling out. I did all the blood work to see if it was from some other issue, but all came back normal. I had one Dr tell me its from the desalinated water here and to use bottle water to wash it. Total pain in the neck. I got a shower head filter instead. It's the Blu brand one. Personally, I have had a good result. I don't see my patches of bald getting any worse and I immediately noticed my hair was much softer and less sticky feeling. Some people don't have the same opinion as I do. I got the filter at a pharmacy. I have been happy with it. I was at the point to try anything. But if you haven't had the lab tests, it's probably a good idea to do that just to rule out any medical reason for the hair loss.

Stand firm. It is your right to your husbands attention and consideration and your children's right to the same. He has a duty as do you and your children!!!!! I am Muslim and this is from an Islamic perspective, but it should be the same. Marriage is a lifetime commitment, not a fling!!!! MrsB, you are right. Doesn't matter your background or religion, think marriage should be revered I the same way. Mutual respect and consideration. Thanks very much for your input

Number 1, you are not going crazy! Your feelings are your 'personal GPS' that something is wrong and needs to be addressed. You mention 'it hasn't always been like this' so I'm curious to know when things began to change - what happened just prior to those changes? The first thing I would ask you is, if you were to start all over again with your husband, how would you 'design' this relationship? What would you do more of? What would you do less of? How would it FEEL to be in this amazing relationship you just designed? Do these questions excite you or tire you just thinking about them (how much appetite do you have left for this man?) Do you have access to suitable support (counselling, coaching etc) where you live? I know a great relationship coach if you would like his number! Best wishes and I hope you create a happy outcome for you and your family. Not wanting to hijack this thread, but could I please have the coach's number. I am facing similar problems for quite while now and would like to give it a try. My 10 year anniversary is next week :( username at gmail TIA edited by starfishalicja on 20/02/2013 Tia Starfish, pass the number along if you get it and don't mind. I hope you have a good outcome.

and what was his reaction ? I haven't gotten one yet...sadly, I had to email it to him as he stormed upstairs and isn't speaking to me. Is the only way I can communicate with him without him hijacking the conversation and not letting me get a word in

Everyone has given me sound advice...I really appreciate it. It's not pretty, but it is what it is. I am not perfect by any means. I have not cheated/betrayed, etc. I have been angry, passive aggressive when things have gotten bad. I have never cursed at him, nor called him names. He is severely traumatized by his divorce and the issues with his other child from the previous marriage. But I am not sure all the warrants his behavior regarding our marriage.

Yes, I keep coming up with the same, he is either depressed or just isn't in love with me anymore, but doesn't want to go through another divorce. We are intimate still, usually in the middle of the night as the mood strikes him. He travels all over the place, it isn't just one country. He is like his dad...he thinks he can do no wrong and everyone else is the problem. I have just given him an ultimatum...we go to counseling or I leave. This was just after he called me a f...ing idiot and chucked the TV remotes at me. I was feeling hostile towards him (based on all the **** I have written about in previous post...) I just cannot continue as status quo...

Best wishes and I hope you create a happy outcome for you and your family. There has always been a lot of drama from the beginning in our relationship. He has a horrible relationship with his ex and has a lot of baggage associated with it. I would have done a lot of things differently--I have made a lot of compromises...have given up a wedding and honeymoon and job to have a quick marriage ceremony at the courthouse to come to Dubai with him almost 6 yrs ago. I used every dime I had to help pay for court fees and solicitors associated with his ex wife and daughter. I was happy to do so. Bc he is my husband and I love him so much. If I could design the marriage, we would talk and laugh a lot and hold hands and things that normal couples do. We would have quality time together and quality time with our kids. I want less of walking on eggshells around him, trying to determine f he is going to ignore me,or shout at me for something. Things began to change significantly after our 2 nd child. I would be happy to go to counseling, he would likely refuse. I am far from perfect. I have had lots of things I have needed to sort out. I feel as I have done a pretty good job at that with more work to go.

I use Desitin as well, and it has always worked wonders. Just can't find it anywhere here! The pediatrician told me the higher the zinc oxide in the diaper cream, the better. Desitin has 40% compared to 12-16 in most other brands. When I didn't have that, air time without a happy helped as well. Although, yes, that can get messy! Good luck!

Thanks for all the info guys. There is still I don't know a lot about. No diagnosis yet. And hoping that it won't be MS. Will be seeing Dr Stefan, the MS neurologist specialist in a few days. Will be writing down all the symptoms I have had over last 3 months. My grandfather had MS the entire time I knew him. He was wheel chair bound, with a catheter and horrible tremors. He had a stroke that finally killed him. Was heartbreaking. Anyways, thanks to you both for valuable info. I am not too keen on the lumbar puncture. The MRI was awful, and don't want to do that again anytime soon. I know that I am my best advocate and will seek other opinions for any Dr that doesn't take me seriously God bless

AmyAus, can you tell me a bit about your symptoms and diagnosis? Not sure I understand when you say you are not going down the meds road? What are you doing? Homeopathic? And I have also suffered from depression all my adult life, and my GP is insistent that it is anxiety causing all my symptoms. Have you had any SSHL? I have had one MRI that was normal, but I know that doesn't necessarily mean squat in terms of MS.

I probably didn't answer your question correctly....sorry...we have a Wii here that we bought in 2009 here, at the Toys R Us. We bought the North American system and North American games. They sell both, or did, at Toys R Us. No adapter required.

You have to check the box to see if it can handle both 120 and 220 electricity. We bought a Wii here and bought the North American games compatible with it. They sell both here. We got ours at Toys R Us in Festival Centre Mall. I believe it's marked with NATSC or something similar.

Such a shame! I purchased a lovely tree topper there. They had holiday decor that was lovely, that you could not find anywhere else. At least there is Pottery Barn, Pottery Barn Kids, and Crate and Barrel that stock some great things.

Struggling a bit here...can anyone recommend a Dubai Neurologist that specializes in diagnosing and treating MS? Have had months of usual symptoms (confusion, involuntary muscle twitching, feet and hand tingling and numbness , one side of face numb, incredible sudden itchiness of scalp, and 2 episodes of Sudden Sensory Neurol Hearing Loss with vertigo and nausea. Had an MRI done at which time I wasn't really experiencing any symptoms. Therefore my GP told me it was from anxiety. I can accept all that however not feeling stressed out and that doesn't explain the SSHL. Have a family history of MS as well. Anyways, just trying to find a doctor here that will take my concerns seriously, and God willing, rule MS out hopefully. As of now, my symptoms have subsided except for I just have had another bout of SSHL. Appreciate any input on Drs, etc. I am feeling lost here.

Have used mine now for 2 days and can tell you at a minimum, my hair is softer, without that "sticky" heavy residue I usually have after shower. I don't use any hair products at all, btw. I noticed a big change in the feel and texture after my first shower. So did my husband. I happened to see one at the SuperCare Pharmacy at DSO next to Cedre Villas and just went ahead and bought it. Also can say the spray and slight lemon aroma are nice. It is a low flow shower head, so less water too. Now to see if my hair starts coming back!

I just got one today bc frankly, I have nothing to lose except more hair. I have seen 2 doctors and both have told me it is the water here. I also did all the blood tests to rule anything else out. They told me to wash my hair with bottled water. Did that, but that is certainly not convenient. So, will give the filter a try and hope for the best.

Not sure if you can find that coffee machine here. However, we bought a couple of power inverters to use on Amercian appliances that would work. I use an inverter whenever I use my kitchen aid mixer from the US, and works just fine. We had bough the inverters from Carrefour.

home? Old traditions? How you feel ladies here in Dubai? I ve recognized that Customer Care is NOT excisting, that being organized a word you have to look up in a dictionary first and that i miss the sometimes easy way to get things without spending a fortune. :D Yes, definitely. Been here almost 6 years and I miss home the most during these long summer months. I have learned to just embrace how things are here. You can't fight the way it works. I have found that outlook makes it easier to swallow on those days when you are ready to snap someone in two! I def miss the ease of getting things done, wonderful on line shopping, and being able to pay for everything with plastic. We have tried to fill our home with most things from our home country, so that also makes it easier to be surrounded by "normalcy" in our eyes.

I applied for residency renewals today at DNRD - me and 2 ds I had to supply: Usual passports usual medical proof of application to renew National ID Tenancy contract in DH name DEWA bill in DH name copy of land affection for villa from Landlord Land affection and tenancy have to be attested by RERA/Land dept before visa submission. Luckily I was using a good typing office which has the ability to apply for attestation on line, thus saving me a trip to Land dept (but it still costs yet more money!!) That was today. So it is definitely happening in Dubai despite what rumour mill is reporting. Could you share the typing office you used? That would be great not to go to Land Dept. Thanks!

I totally understand! I can recommend Dr Amer at Dubai Community Health Center. He is a psychiatrist that can prescribe that medication and I do believe they have Effexor in UAE. I would bet he would help you out if you explained your situation. He has been very helpful when i have been in similiar situations, but needimg emough meds to get me home for 2 months. It is my understanding that most GPs can only prescribe a few anti-depressants in the UAE. Those are Zoloft, Prozac, and a couple of others. Effexor may be one that can be prescribed by a GP but I am not positive. If you want to see a British GP, I can recommend Kay Deering at Infinity Medical Clinic. I have been told she is able to prescribe most medications, but I cannot confirm that. Both places mentioned above are in jumerirah and you can google and find their contact numbers. Do you have a prescription bottle that has your name and medication dosage on it at least with you? If some sort of documentation is required, perhaps you could contact your Dr in the UK and ask her to email you some sort of referral or records to get your meds ASAP. If you need anything else, let me know. Will do my best to help you. And no,you will not be thrown in jail!

It is happening. Have been trying all week to get a maid hired and visa processing going. Went to DNRD. We rent, and were told at the DNRD that in addition to our tenancy contract, we also had to provide the owner's passport copy and copy of the title deed for the villa. Owner is in UK. And then you have to go to the Dubai Land Department to get the documents attested (another 195 aed down the tube). All the while, time ticks on and our prospective maid's tourist visa is running out. So, now we will have to send her home until we can get all the paperwork from our villa's owner, get it all attested and then go back to DNRD to get her entry permit. How long that takes, God only knows. Am starting to wonder if having a maid is even worth it at this point. So we will have to do this for visa renewals as well, including our own, at least that is what we were told at DNRD yesterday.
