Hi! I received a wedding invitation today for a wedding in Goa for people I hardly know. A few months ago, I received an invitation from the same people to attend their children's Communion party in Goa. Obviously, I am not going to go to Goa to attend these parties. Why am I being invited? Is it because they want money from me? Dear Anon, Coming from the same country, I can definitely tell u that they are not asking for money. In General, most Indians will invite u for a marriage even if u r not family and just an acquaintance. This is part of the culture. In India, if u know someone and if they are not invited then is often considered as a rude and hence it is common in Indian weddings to have more than 500 guests. as a guest u r never expected to give any sort of gift . They only expect u to attend. If that's not possible, then it's fine. I suppose they were just trying to be nice and invite everyone. Hope this clears out things.

Do you have e-gate card?. I do know of a friend who entered UAE without passport but thru e-gate ( passport was lost after immigration check in exiting country). However I suppose u cannot exit the country since airlines usually check for a valid visa before boarding. Not sure if this is the case with UK. Hope this helps.

Crafts land in Mercato has all the supplies. Btw, Am in greens too. I am still a beginner in knitting, if u r ok then we can catch up sometime

Hi, Ladies, did anyone have to take driving lessons to be allowed to drive in Dubai? I have an 11 y.o. driver's license from Russia and as far as I understand I have to take classes and pass tests for the UAE permit, but not the full course. How long can it take and cost? (Haven't found any fees on the websites of RTA) Any experience with Belhasa driving school at Jebel Ali maybe? Thanks! yes, u have to take driving classes and pass the test inorder to drive in UAE. since u already have ur country's license, u should take 20 classes from authorized driving Institute. Not sure about Belhasa , but iam yet to join Emirates Driving Institute. The cost was about 4500AED. 2 classes each week. Mine are weekend classes so cost is more. If you take classes during weekdays it'll be less Hope this helps

There are kiosks in Ibn Battuta mall which do them. They have plain t-shirts and you can choose the photos to be printed. Not sure if they do personalized printing.

their customer service no. is 04 4579494. I had called them a week ago and my issue was resolved on the same day. Try calling them again during non-rush hours (like afternoon). Good luck to you.

i second the tea tree oil. Alternatively u can also use an anti-lice shampoo called "Medikar". My friend's daughter had the same thing and she got rid of them after 2-3 applications. she bought it in Al Adil store

it depends on the size and weight. And also on whether it is 18k or 22k. 10gms gold (22k) at todays price is 190AED. Say for a 5-6gm ring it should be abt 950 to 1100 AED. (this is an appx estimation) hope this helps

Are roasted/boiled chestnuts v high in calories? Chestnuts, in general are low in calories compared to other nuts and seeds. They contain less fat but are rich in minerals, vitamins and phyto-nutrients. 100gms of chestnuts = 170kcal

Nope. you can reserve them once u get there. Make sure to book the tables early as they are generally full. we have been to saffron and must say the experience as a whole was just awesome. Hope you enjoy there :)

Same happened to me couple of days ago. I was near JVT, booked a taxi at 2 in the afternoon hoping it would be there by half an hour. Called up their customer service almost 5 times and every time they said the cab will be there in 10 mins. One guy at customer service told me they have no taxis available at all. what the..... After 3 hours of waiting, taxi arrived at 5 pm. And for those 3 hours i was waiting all alone in the middle of nowhere :( so exhausted when i reached home and never gonna call a taxi again

I have several nice recipes but most are those long drowned out ones that are hard to do because of school runs. Would like a nice meal but definitely not spicy and no curry. I've been doing my best lately but because of being pregnant I swell up easily if standing in one place too long. DH told me this morning he wants a real dinner for a change. Well I told him where he could put that meal. But anyways if anyone has any ideas I'd appreciate it. what kind of cuisine u regularly cook?
