Less than half a mile should be fine...not particularly pleasant but shouldn't be an issue. Kids at school were running about at morning break today and after school outdoor sports clubs only stop this week. Before and after school should not be impossible. At my school many parents have to walk about 600m to where they park the car and the kids survive. I guess its ok if the kids doused in sunscreen and has a water bottle.

Lolacat as already mentioned I'd be doing some of the play time and feeding time during the maids schedule and I would be the one doing it all from 6pm-6am. Did you miss that or something? Yes i did miss that, you did only state some of the below. Putting it all in a list like that makes it sound as if you wish the maid to do all of this, otherwise why put on a list asking??? For the very simple reason that I have never had house help here in Dubai and I wanted opinions on the schedule I've made for her!

Lots of comments! Theres a break in the schedule everytime DS goes to sleep and when I mean cleaning the house I mean VERY general for example just tidying up (DH always has his papers on the dining table and leaves his clothes lying around). I dont mean mopping the floors!

If I wrote about my MIL you'd all go running to give your MIL's a big bear hug! Its a shame she is so mean because she's pushed her away her son. I have to force DH to call her. He hardly ever speaks to her and we wonder what we would tell DS when he grows up as there isnt much nice things to say.

Hi girls, I am not new to expatwoman but don't write too much. But this is the place which comes most handy for a lot of everyday Qs :) So my issue is that I've been having severe acne rosacea for more than 10 years :( it started off late, probably when I was 18/19. I've done occasional treatments but still haven't figured out a permanent solution. Taking antibiotics is also temporary. The moment you stop popping them and the spots sprout again. Anybody out there, who's been in a similar situation. write back please. There's a lot of concentration surprisingly on my nose and the sad part is that it gets really bad during or right before periods and mid cycle. which pretty much means mostly all the time. If anyone knows a good dermatologist, expert in severe acne then let me know or any skin care clinics which might be good at acne facials because I've frankly, had ENOUGH! :( I'm so sorry your going through this. I had alot of acne problems in my teens. I hope that someone here on EW can help you with a good dermatologist but may I suggest the obvious such as changing your diet, exercise, lots of water and getting your fertility cycles regulated? All these things will help too. Good luck xoxo

Can anybody please help? Were living in JBR. Its me, my husband and our 4 month baby and were looking for a live in maid. The crunch of her work will be looking after DS so its important she has child care skills. I'm a SAHM so I will be here during the day to help get her settled and trained. She will have a sea view en suite room till we move to a plus maids room apartment in July. I'm looking to pay 1200 dhs a month max, she'll have a furnished room with a tele, dvd player etc. She'll be expected to work 6 days a week 6am-6pm. 1 month paid leave per year and 1 ticket home each year. Ideally were looking for an Indian maid. Just to give you a heads up one month paid leave and annual ticket home is standard as it will stated in their MOL labour contract which your DH and the maid both sign. Any suggestions? I know its standard but I know alot of people who only give their house help 4 weeks every 2 years and the same goes for annual ticket home! I just wanted to state the obvious so that anyone interested knew what they would be getting.

We are in the process of getting a maid and we will certainly be insuring her with a good quality medical coverage because 1. its her right and 2. what will you do as her employer if she gets really sick god forbid? We've all come across those cheeky companies with the crappy medical plans for their employee's. I dont want to be like those cheap b*****s! Were all on RSA through DH's work and we would get her an equally as good insurance, of course slightly cheaper.

Post your add on the classifieds on EW. I did it and just found an amazing maid! I do pay her a little bit more, but that's also because it was required for her nationality and for the things I needed. You will get plenty of replies. Good luck. Stay away from Dubizzle. Weird people call you up. Just my opinion! Cheers Thank you for the heads up! I've just put up an advert on classified so hopefully I hear from someone soon! =)

My daughter is the same, it's hard isn't it...! she got some lovely glittery ballet pumps from Iconic last week (seen similar pair in Kurt Geiger for almost 10x the price!)...so may be worth having a look in there as they had lots of other styles... Thanks Mrs M, where is Iconic? I went to the one in Dubai Mall, it's just by M&S... Theres also a new one in marina mall but I'm not sure if they will have what your looking for.

Oh dear lord only one cherry tomato. What will we do now. It is funny....not life threatening. Up to you what you do. As for me, I'm going to laugh and hope others have other humorous stories. I'm only joking!

hey everyone, where can I buy garden furniture (wooden or rattan) besides stores such as ACE, Garden Centre, Geant etc.? I have also been to Dragon Mart, but could not find the perfect set. Anyone has any insider tipps for certain warehouses or shops for sets at reasonable prices? Thanks! Hi there! I know Homecenter do a warehouse sale around Dec/Jan but its somewhere far like RAK I think. You could always call up and ask or perhaps it would be better to go in and ask a Manager.

Hey friends, I am expecting my baby in a few weeks. I want to make sure we take care of all the official documentation as soon as possible. Please guide me along the steps: - Get the Arabic & English birth certificate - Apply for the Indian passport - Now, what documents are needed to apply for residency visa? Where can I apply for it? Is there anything else that I am missing out? Do let me know. Thanks! Hi globetrotter and congrats on your baby! These will be your steps: 1. Get birth notification from hospital and take to Baraha Hospital. They will issue the birth certificate. 2. Get the birth certificate attested by Ministry of Health and Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 3. Send the attested birth certificate along with other documents that are requested by your embassy in order to get your babys passport To get the residency visa: 1. Take your passport, husbands passport, babys passport, if you have then also your birth cerificate, your husbands birth certificate and babys certificate, attested tenancy agreement, husbands salary certificate, attested husbands labour contract and 3 passport photos of your baby to the immigration offices. It should all get done within a day. We got the PRO at my husbands work place to do it or you can also use baby steps. I actually also came across a company who deal solely in visa stamping for Indian nationals. Good luck!

Everyone I know is reading this trilogy so I thought I'd have to see what the buzz is all about? :-) So ladies: love it, like it or hate it? I would probably say after reading the first 2 parts and without getting into details about the toooo many intimate bits, it's an okay read for me. Didn't love it cause I thought the story was told a million times before and didn't hate it cause it has deep feelings involved (don't wanna spill it out for ppl. who didn't read it yet) What did you think? A waste of so many tree's.

I've got a Toyota Prado 7 seater (seats fold down tho at the back when not in use for extra boot space). Have had 7 adults in there before quite comfortably! Very safe, Isofix as standard and excellent resale value. I agree. I've just placed my order. Its an excellent car.
