I will mail you those pics. I received a mail today with regards to another meeting tomorrow but it's a bit short notice for me. Hopefully we will be able to buy the uniforms before school starts :\: My son will also start FS2 and they said that they are planning a staggered start for the little ones. So they might have half the class start from 8-10am and then the other half from 10-12pm so I am sure closer to the time we will receive all the info through e-mail. I am just keeping my eye on the mails coming through. Good luck with your move and house hunting.

My son will also start with the new GEMS school in September. Do not stress about your e-mails you are getting. They send them to all on their mailing list. The 2500 is fully refundable if you do not take the place but if you do it comes off your annual fee. In a meeting I attended the principle did mention that they want to assess all children for their records. I took my son for the assessment but mostly to meet the head teacher. They offered him a place on his last report card I submitted and I am sure that is what happened with your child. They are busy with site meetings everyday and I do go check up on the building when I can. All looks good. I have a picture or 2 if you want me to mail it to you. I also see there is a lot of development residential wise near the school. That might also be a option for you guys with regards to a place to stay. Let me know if I can do some follow up from this side for you. Greetings

We stayed at Traders Hotel by Shangri La a few weeks ago, was fab, pool area is a bit small but the beach is lovely. Nice little souq next door with Meat Co and a few other nice restaurants. Would defo go back and it wasnt too expensive either. I can also recommend Traders. We took the "Traders Club" option that included a light breakfast and evening snacks that included wine, beer and other drinks so it was well worth it for the price.

Yes, it's supposed to be safer and I think it must be. I used one for my son - I think it definitely helped keeping him in his seat for take-off / landings etc. It would probably help a bit with sleeping, although not quite the same effect as carseat because they're not really 'cocooned' the same way in a plane seat as they are in a carseat. The other thing is that there is no crotch strap so they do/can slip down. Mmmmmm did not notice the crotch thing... And they are about 400 dirham so it might just be best to take a car seat. Thanx for your reply.

Is it near the gems american academy? Saw a signage outside the construction site which read al shohub school. Maybe thats the new school. Thanks Fazaya, nope it's Khalifa. I went in and asked a staff member. They are allready open and there was some moms waiting outside for kids. Weird that there is no name on the building.

Thanks BB2, I think it is not a nursery school but more primery/secondary type school as it is big. I have GPS Coordinates close to the school if that will help :) Went to look at a place to stay right next to the school. It will be great if the school is the right fit for my 4 year old to start at in Sept. We could walk there - in winter months :p Could I by so lucky?

Sorry to gate crash I am also from SA - just wanted to here more about Winchester School in Discovery Gardens. KityCat72 do you live in Discovery Gardens and if so how is the school and the Gardens? We live in Fujairah but DH is starting work in AD in April. We are looking into all options even living in Dubai and him doing the comute thing to AD for the right school and place to live. Fujairah is so peaceful. I am sad to leave. edited by Lulu12 on 12/03/2013 edited by Lulu12 on 12/03/2013 edited by Lulu12 on 12/03/2013

Is there any difference between Cambridge High School and Cambridge International School or it is just name changed? edited by smartlady on 10/01/2013 Looks like it. The fees are not the same and it says on the web site to open Sept 2013. edited by Lulu12 on 10/01/2013 edited by Lulu12 on 10/01/2013

Hi, Ladies, Happy New Year! I am new here and I am very interested for reviews about this school, as it is in our range of price and living area. Also, I would like to have an opinion what is better AD International School or Cambridge High School? For me is needed for Gr 8 and Gr.5. Thank you! Have a nice day! Hi, I am in more or less the same boat. I just have a 3 year old and he just started school this year. If you get any other helpful info about schools in this budget please post. Thanks kindly.

Sorry and... How do the moms find Sheikh Zayed Private Academy and Glenelg? :\: surely these are expensive. also sh private schools is predoimantly local, and glenelg is american system i think Unfortunately we do not have a choice in moving to AD so I have to make something work. The schools I mentioned below all had fees below 30 000 aed per year for my son's age group so I would appreciate any feedback on them.

As long as you are still on your visit visa you may drive but as soon as you have a residence visa you will have to convert before driving. Go on AD government web site for info. The letter he needs to write can be short and sweet. Your current license needs to be translated in Arabic at a official translation office. Good luck! edited by Lulu12 on 03/01/2013

uz2020, did you come right with a school yet? We are a European family having to relocate to AD from with in the UAE in March (what a bad time) and I have a son 3. He is attending the best private school in our town at the moment but the fees are not nearly as much as AD schools so I am stressing a lot about finding a good school with in our budget. We are looking at 25k max per year. We are getting some financial aid from work but it appears they are not in tune with the cost of schools in AD nor the availability. - long sad story - I was looking at Cambridge, Belvadere, AD Internasional, Giggles and even Choueifat (not liking that one much to begin with). Any feedback welcome.
