My special needs boy is 16 and I take him with me to the ladies toilet when his dad or his brother is not around. He does look like a 12 year old and only 'special needs' when you take a closer look. We are in and out very quickly and after 7 years in the Middle East I only got a protest once from a security guy in a mall. Most ladies in the restroom do not have any issue with him being there and I feel that the women/moms in the ladies toilet totally understand why I have to take him there. I cannot understand the people on this forum are having harsh opinions about what and what age should be appropriate for boys to use the restrooms with their mom! There is no general age to determine what is right and what is not, it is very depending on the situation!

Don't worry, that is not a problem at all. The sponsor in Dubai needs to cancel her visa and you go to immigration within 30 days of cancellation in Abu Dhabi with the original cancellation paper and apply for a new visa. I have done that, no problem. I must say I paid extra for 'in country-procedure' to avoid sending her out of the country for an exit stamp.

You can contact Cargo Village in Dubai to see what kind of paperwork you need and in what order. Very easy to fly them to the UK yourself and you will save a LOT of money. You will have to check the situation with your dog being a Boston terrier. I have heard of people 'changing' the breed of the dog in the vaccination record to make it easier to let the dog travel. A boston could be a 'terrier-mix'…….

It would be very expensive if you have to fly two dogs home and back every summer! I do remember from previous posts that you already have a saluki/labrador mix????

Looking for a big, proper, carbon steel wok with a flat bottom. I have tried Dragon Mart, Tavola and everything in between in Dubai and Abu Dhabi…cannot find it! Who can help please? Located in Abu Dhabi but happy to drive to Dubai to get my wok!

If the mum is your friend it should not be too difficult just to tell her what you think! She might not know what is going on during the playdates and would probably enjoy some time with her 4 year old only when the other child is with you. Being honest is always the best thing....at least that how it works for me.

Just use another name and mobile number (I used my husbands) as a referral and you will be fine. They did not check that atnd delivered the next or same day without any issues. Great service!

You can cancel her visa without ticket; you don't need a ticket just make sure that another party applies for a visa within 30 days after cancellation. You just cancel her visa and you will still be responsible until she actually leaves the country or another sponsor applies for a new visa. Only after the person left the country OR another party applies for a visa she is not your responsibility anymore (within max 30 days after cancellation date) Simple procedure; cancel visa, make sure new sponsor applies for new visa within 30 days after cancellation and voila you are not her legal sponsor anymore and get your deposit back. The new sponsor might have to pay extra for an 'in country procedure' which means the person does not have to leave the country before the new visa is issued but that is their choice when they apply for visa

I normally hang up when the first question is 'what are the working hours' or 'what is salary' another tricky one is 'what nationality are you' or 'how many kids'...... I understand that not everybody is interested in many small kids and long hours but not very clever to discuss these things during the first 5 minutes of a conversation on the phone..!

We traveled through Java (Jakarta until JogJakarta) before heading to Bali for a couple of days relaxation. Great trip, easy to get around with train, backpack and a lonely planet. Flight back from Bali to Jakarta to save some time. You get to compare the complete different atmosphere from Java compared to Bali, loved it!

Thanks, I will post this in maids forum as well. Is it me or is there not a lot of traffic in the AD section compared to Dubai? The lady does not have to do a lot with the dogs; I will take care of most of the walking and feeding except when I'm on holiday. I just need somebody who really enjoys dogs and will treat them good when away!

Thank you so much for that link BB2! I left today at 6 am with the pooches in the boot to find the spot and I managed! Dogs loved it and it is a great place for dogs to walk off leash! Safe and water to cool them even during hot summer months! Thanks again BB2 for the trouble of posting that link; happy dogs here today and a happy owner who found a great spot for the dogs to have a good run! <em>edited by jojojo on 13/07/2013</em>

Wil there be a sign 'Kite Beach' once at Yas? Sorry for asking stupid questions but I have been driving around Yas and only say water world, ferrari and Ikea, no sign with Kite Beach. I did see some sort of 'private beach'. Drove past that and explored the sand next to it but not good to let dogs have a swim; difficult to access water. I will take the Mahwi exit though.

Thanks bb2 for the info. Silly that locals still do advertise to rent it out (Bahia). I think I will just drive up there one day to have a good run with the dogs. (probably illegal as well.....) Our new villa in Mohamed bin Zayed City is almost filled with our belongings and let us see what will happen there!

She loves running around in the garden, loves eating lettuce and will deal with some grapes and a cucumber as well. Please contact me if you are intested in adopting her! zero five zero eight seven one zero zero six zero. Only looking for a family with a garden and possibly another tortoise to keep her company.

I know but still too far to have the regular; 'drive me to the mall, pick me up at whatever time and please can he and he spend the night with us?'. My 14 year old has to start over again and I feel sorry for him!

Hi Jojo7..... I will be moving to Abu Dhabi with my year 9 boy (year 10 in September) and his two siblings end of June. I have got him (almost) in RAHA international school. School looks nice, interaction with staff perfect so all will be fine. My son is not happy since he will have to leave his friends in Dubai behind, maybe we can meet up and see if the two get along?

Hi Jo x3 In my recent scouring of schools I remember GEMS World Academy offered IB, hope that helps. Thanks for that but I think they only cater for Elementary and not Secundary (or the other way around). Thay means that I have my kids on two different schools; not great.
