I too am moving to Abu Dhabi in August and currently live in Copenhagen where I run 5k 5 times a week. Would love someone to run with and have some girlie chat! Sounds fab. We'll have to keep in touch. Have you got kids? Where are you planning to live? Cheers Jo

Georgie, we have applied to al Yasmina and BSAK that's it!!! We aren't going t apply to BC for a number of reasons. I could do with one more really but there arent that many schools that will take all three kids. My younger two have more chance of getting a place if we keep them all together. I also think it would be better for them to be at the same school. I think I will hang on til I definitely know he's got the job now, only 2 more days. Also hoping to get out for a visit in the next 2 weeks so I can have a look round a few then. We haven't told our kids anything yet!!! The little ones will be fine but goodness knows how the big one will react.

Nooooo, I hadn't heard that there was nothing for teens to do. I hope my older lad doesn't see this, he's already less than thrilled about the imminent move. Although all he does in the UK is hang out at home or a friend's house and play computer games. They sometimes go outside to kick a ball about but not often! Anyone (BusyBee you've been there long enough!) know when the dust settles on this school lark? Ie do all schools communicate their place allocations on a set day, then see who hasn't gotten a place, and which schools have space? JoJo7, all the best with your husband's job offer; mine came through last week so now it's all systems go go go!

We are in the same boat re Brighton college. They have told us that we are unlikely to get a place for my youngest, maybe for my middle one and yes for my year 10 boy if he passes the entrance test and this will help the others to get in. - no pressure for him then!!!! So basically the only chance my little two have is if the big one passes the exam. I think they should just make us pay for the big one and see if he passes the test but we have to pay for them all. Might give it a miss.

They haven't offered us a place at al Yasmina yet although they told me that there is space in year 10 for him from September. Not sure how long it takes we have sent the application and received an acknowledgement. I think the fact that they had space made me wonder if they were short of kids that age group and I didn't want him to be short of friends.

Thank you for that. They did say that to me that the other 2 kids would get in earlier if we took the place but I asked in 2 separate email how many year 10 kids they had and they didn't not answer that particular question. This made me quite twitchy! but you say that the oldest one, year9/10 has a place? so why do you want to know how many year 10 kids there are? on the waiting list? the class sizes? how many in the school? what? dont understand?. al yasmina has been around for a few years now, and its a good school and now established, it has the required amount of classes, i dont know how many in each year group as mine dont go there, i know people that do i could find out for you, but in bsak they have 5 classes for seniors, and since yasmina opened with a lot of ex-bsak input i would say that it would be run the same.

Hi Jojo7..... I will be moving to Abu Dhabi with my year 9 boy (year 10 in September) and his two siblings end of June. I have got him (almost) in RAHA international school. School looks nice, interaction with staff perfect so all will be fine. My son is not happy since he will have to leave his friends in Dubai behind, maybe we can meet up and see if the two get along? dxb is only up the road though...... It would be great to meet up. I've got everything crossed, hope my hubby gets the job.

Hi ladies, haven't been on here for a couple of weeks,I didn't realise I had a few replies, thank you. I haven't heard of RAHA. We have applied to al Yasmina and BSAK and I am trying to decided whether to apply to Brighton college. I'm not convinced that my 14 yr old will pass the entrance test. We final out on Wednesday if hubby has definitely got his job and we have decided not to tell the kids till we are certain. I not looking forward to telling my 14 year old as i dont think he is going to be very pleased with the idea. It's a difficult time to move especially when you are so full of hormones! How old are your other 2 kids jojojo? And where are you originally from? Have your other kids got school places? I'm finding the whole school thing quite stressful. I seem to be in quite a good position in that my big one can get a place and this pushes the other 2 up the waiting list but I'm not sure what I will do if they other two don't get in at all?

Thanks that good to hear. I was thinking about Al Yasmina and they do have space for starting September......but I am open to suggestions. We are hoping to get out for a few days in a couple of weeks so we can have a look round. I've got 2 other younger kids and think it would be nice for them to be in the same school but not if it isn't the best place for an teenager. All advice gratefully received.
