Hi, I've moved both ways, to Dubai from Qatar and from Qatar to Dubai.. You can take your car, but check regulations in Qatar for paper work needed. The Pearl is a nice place to live, but no longer has an alcohol license in restaurants, so not so popular amongst expats. You can get serviced apartments, try FortyFour west bay( lived there for 2 years) Kempinski hotel and other hotels have serviced apartments too. However, choose your residence according to where your husband will be working as driving is terrible at rush times. Tuesday ladies group meets alternate Tuesdays at Radisson Blu hotel and the ladies there will be full of info and help when you arrive. Dress restrictions a bit tighter than Dubai too, sleeveless not the norm, so advisable to be prepared for that too.

Susie, I'm sorry you had this experience, I posted a few weeks ago after the same experience, its not nice at all. I too had exited and returned in the 30 day period and had as in the past assumed i was starting anther 30 days on entry. From what i have been able to pick up, even if your passport is stamped saying 30 days visa, if you are re entering UAE within the original 30 day period it is not another new visa. I hope no more people get caught.

I have just been out and in within my 30 days, UK passport has been stamped but not the 30 day visa stamp. I was also asked at immigration how long i was staying , I assume because i only have 10 days left on the visa. The officer was content i was leaving again in 7 days. I wonder if they are going to warn people now that they are not getting another 30 days on entry. I saw several people on my exit being taken into the same room i was for over staying . Still no information on the official immigration web site.

Further to my above posts, i have eventually found out that the rules have changed and that if you leave and return within your original 30 day visa you will not be issued with a new visa. , you have to exit and stay out till day 31 or do a visa run between day 31 and 39 .

Well im back in Dubai, no issues getting in at all, however im going in and out again in the next 30 day period, so will have to see what happens. I have heard of this happening to other people and it seems to be that you only get 30 days if you leave on day 29/30 or stay out till the 30 days is finished. Definitely something to remember for the future. I leave on day 25 and will return on what would be days 30, so hope i do get a new visa for 30 days.

Thanks ladies, I did leave UAE, i went to Manilla. I have an exit stamp from UAE on 15th, entry and exit stamps for Manilla. I have been self scanning my passport on arrival, so have no stamp for that and wonder if this could be the issue. Will see what happens when i return on the 28th.

I guess this may be a scam. I was asked for money for the metro too in the Marina last week, very near the station. I did refuse as he had not asked any of the men that past in front of me.

I have just moved from Qatar to Dubai. In order for my husband to get a clearance letter from the bank in Doha, which you need in order to cancel residency and get your exit visa, we had to have no outstanding loans or credit cards. I suggest you ask the bank in Doha and ask them if they can transfer the loan here. I should add once the car has no loan on it, yes it is possible to bring it here and re register it.

You sound like my type of person! Unfortunately not actually in Dubai yet but when/if we are (likely September 2016) I sew badly, play mahjong a bit better and would happily make cards over a mug of tea/glass wine. I am looking at a villa on Jumeira beach, I think after reading advice on here. Thanks for getting in touch. If you do arrive in Dubai, be sure to get in touch Wendy

I am like minded! Card making and sewing. Living in DIFC, no car. Have lived in Abu Dhabi and Qatar where I crafted with a small group of ladies I find a large group too much for crafting as too many different levels. Un fortunately due to family commitments in uk I am not here much at moment I leave on Thursday or I would have arranged to meet. I have been to Satwa buying fabric and seeing what's available there. Maybe on my next trip we could meet. thank you for replying to me. I have just moved form Doha, our third trip there, wonder if we have ever crossed paths? I'm here until mid December and then home for Christmas, so hopefully we can meet up when you return. Wendy

I am a british lady and I have recently moved back to Dubai with my husband (i have been away almost 5 years). I really enjoy sewing/ quilting, card making and playing Mahjong . I live in the Marina and don't have access to a car. Are there any like minded ladies or a group in the area?
