it's not mandatory yet (we just processed my mum's visa)... mandatory only from 1st June... however, the current cheapest one in the market (and a newly opened offer) is from Takaful Emarat, the premium is 3500 AED... which is great when compared to other quotes I was getting at almost 12000 AED due to the age factor.
