Canada has a high rate of income tax to pay for these "free" things. Not everyone can get a Canadian passport after 4 years. They have strict criteria as to who can become citizens

In my case, we paid the rent upfront in one cheque. Now we are leaving, we gave the landlord the 3 months notice required, and he simply turned round and said he's not refunding us any of our rent money. Over 100000 dhs. Never again will I pay a full years rent upfront. It's no surprise to me that landlords have a bad reputation here when they do things like this!! I don't agree with or like the 1 check policy, but why would the landlord refund your money just because you are leaving early? Your lease was for a year (regardless of 1 check or monthly checks). Where I'm from, there is normally a clause in leases that say if you leave early (and give proper notice), you can be free and clear for whatever is left on your contract only if your landlord is able to re-lease the property. However, if the LL cannot then you would be liable for the entire term. In Dubai, we didn't even get a clause like that in our lease. So if we leave early, then we are SOL. We do have a clause that says we can break the contract if we give 3 months notice. so how many people stay for exactly 1, 2, 3 years etc? What happens to the people who have to leave after 30 months for example?

It happens to me on my iPad and I discovered this by accident. When the pop up appears, scroll down the page then tap the page of the UK site and the pop up disappears. Hope this makes sense to you

I have only ever gone to Ted Morgan at Motorcity since I moved here. Every time I have come out of the salon happy with my hair, although it is not cheap. I don't mind the location as there is plenty of parking there.

Sad, but the news is from 2008.... The poster clearly states the attack happened on Christmas Eve this year. Sad, sad news and must have been very frightening. I don't know the area, but where I live the streets are very poorly lit at night and it is creepy when you are out after dark.

Hope this helps you https://www.gov.uk/goods-sent-from-abroad/tax-and-duty I believe it is the person who is receiving the parcel that has to pay the VAT and duty.

Does you bank offer accounts in different currencies? If so, could you open one in USD and have the money paid in by bank transfer in future or does he have to be paid by cheque? Banks in other countries accept cheques in foreign currencies, why can't it be done here?

After I landed at the airport I drove to the nearest Tescos and got a PAYG sim there for my iPhone 5. The guy there knew what kind of sim I needed and they only had sims from EE or 3 to fit. I knew EE was not good for the areas I was going to be in, so chose 3. He then put the new sim in, (I had nothing to open the sim holder with), did the top up for me and handed back a working phone. Now all I have to do is remember to take it with me next tmonth when I go back to UK::thinking:

I really like my slow cooker. I have a crockpot, the only downside to it is I have broken the knob off the lid a couple of times and had to have hubby superglue it back on.

Does anyone know how to stop these messages. I bought a new payg phone last week and I have had 16 of these messages so far, they are getting really annoying. the messages are in Arabic and some have phone numbers in the message, never the same number twice, but the sender info doesn't give a number, just ADPOLICE so I can't reply to it. Please help me stop these.

I had a problem with this too and at times I wanted to throw my phone away in frustration. Finally got it sorted at du shop in ibn battuta mall. The man didn't know why I was getting the messages as when he looked up my phone number my information was there. I even got one of their messages whilst I was at his desk. It was 4 days after my visit to that store that I finally got the text message to say my details were registered.
