I'm sure they feel nice but they are definitely not necessary. I've certainly never had a post-natal massage and neither have my babies. Are you Indian by any chance?

sounds to me like this is probably a local school (as in Arab curriculum)... Definitely, I ve seen local school classes at Mc Donalds too. A friend that works in Muscat, said they drive kids in school buses to Mc Donalds every day... Interesting....

There is a new school in Mirdif. You might want to check it out since you are Canadian. It is called the Ontario Canadian International School. I don't know anything about it and it is nowhere near Repton so I know that this is not what you are looking for but I just thought I'd let you know.

Thank you for your response. When I say refuse, I basically mean that he might constantly take off the shoes. He is too young to understand what he is doing. Maybe I should just wait until he starts school because he'd have to be wearing shoes anyway. He seems to prefer walking around barefoot and he does not go out much. I guess I'll bring him back to the physical therapist and see his opinion. I know that I should do the best for my son and help him to walk straight.

Neither. When I took my two year-old to the children's area at Wild Wadi, she felt totally overwhelmed and just wanted to sit and splash in the water. She really enjoyed it when she was 3, though! If you are going for yourself, then I would recommend leaving your child at home. If you are going solely for his/her pleasure, then I would recommend that you skip it and take her to a pool instead...

Misfit, I wouldn't come on here looking for maid advice. Everyone runs their home differently and many women here would offer you differing opinions... You had a spat with your maid, which is normal. You will need to resolve it on your own with the help of your husband...

It is really ladies only. There are no men there. You can walk around in a string bikini if you want. Some women do! Yes, it is really nice to swim in if you like salt water. But in my opinion, the water is too cold right now.

I purchased PBK furniture for my girls and in hindsight, I regret it. I just did my son's bedroom and I furnished his whole bedroom for the price I paid for one bed at PBK! That was from Homes r Us. PBK is just so expensive! However, I have a strong dislike for IKEA because of their poor customer service. How about trying Homes r Us or the Home Center?

Has this actually been made a rule or is it 7 days ? It is definitely a rule and the signs are posted when you enter the Jumeirah Beach Park on the Ladies Days. The guard also looks inside your car... Male guards looking inside females cars.......would love to see some of the responses. Well, he actually just asks you to put your window down and declare that there are no boys inside.

As a mother of young sons and daughters, I find that banning boys from the age of 4 is extreme. Only a few more years and my eldest son will not be able to come to the beach with us. I will just spare him the disappointment and only go on non-ladies days....

You don't need to do anything. When she does her medical, she will be issued a health card number. You can just use that health card number if she ever goes to one of the government hospitals or clinics. However, in my experience, the government health system is not very efficient and quite costly. You're better off using private care, which the health card does not cover anyway.

This is a serious article, but I can't help but laugh. If a cheating husband hides the knives, couldn't the wife just find something else to hurt him? For example, putting Drano in his tea would make him suffer greatly. Should cheating husbands hide all the cleaning products too?

Lycée français will have school Saturday 15 th March to make up for lost day thursday *Like* This seems like the logical thing to do. If schools need to close, then the day should be made up. Where I come from, there are a lot of school days canceled due to the snow. In fact, today is one! Every one of those missed days will be made up at the end of the school year. edited by AnonDubai on 05/02/2014

presumably the majority of people are here because it makes sense for them to be here Speaking off the record, the bursar at our son's school is candid about the number of parents who have to pay their fees in instalments because it's simply not possible for them to come up with the full term's fees in advance. The school accepts this, although it doesn't advertise that it does, and the bursar says you'll find the same in many other schools, although probably not those belonging to a certain "shiny and expensive" educational group. . The 'shiny and expensive' educational group also accepts installments to pay for school fees and just as the others doesn't advertise it! Yes, for the record, GEMS accepts monthly payments...

I don't live that close to my children's school either, 15 km away actually. I just don't think that schools should be closed if they are not near the closed roads. I know that this sounds harsh but if you can't get to school that day, tough, and I also apply that to myself...

Hi Gusncoley! I have no advice but I just wanted to say that I will be thinking about you and your son. Please update all of us as soon as you can. I also wanted to say that oftentimes doctors look for the worst case scenario just to clear themselves... One time, I was told that my daughter could have cystic fibrosis and I was a nervous wreck until the results came back negative. As a parent, the number one stress is dealing with our children's health problems. Good luck to your son tomorrow and sending you a big cyber hug!

My kids swim with Absolute Swimming. I find their times great for fitting into the kids busy schedule. Would definitely recommend calling to find out about the lessons and they may be able to help you out with private lessons depending on instructor availability. Hope this helps :) Just called to find out about private lessons for you and it's 180 for a home visit. edited by Fitnesschick on 01/02/2014 180 dirhams? That's it?

The government is not going to enforce this rule. They are just reiterating that it is a child's right to be breastfed. It was part of the legislation against child abuse. All you women who "don't produce enough milk", don't get your knickers in a twist. You will not be arrested. About pregnancy food guidelines, I have been told that much of the stuff they tell pregnant women in some Western countries not to eat is eaten by pregnant women in other countries. For example, pregnant French women eat Camembert and pregnant Japanese women eat sushi....

We swim with Absolute swimming in their pool in Barsha but our friend has home lessons with them. Give them a ring, 050 556 0890 and I'm sure they may be able to help you. From what I understand though, they have to do after school activities first before other lessons, if you were looking for an early start, maybe it's best to go with a freelance instructor rather than through a company? I would if I could find someone. What is the going rate for a private instructor?

Why have private when the cost are so much. The children enjoy and learn faster with interaction of others I do agree with you but the timings and driving is so inconvenient that it would be nice to have a lesson at home. I am happy with Hamilton Aquatics but they don't start their lessons until 3:45, which I find really late considering that school finishes at 2:30.
