Good to know, thanks. Still, I really want a single handle and something sturdy that I can load up with bags. Anyone? Bebe Confort Loola Up. It's quite sturdy and easy to steer, still going strong after 2 yrs use with DS1, now being used with both DSs.

My DSs really love the Knot Block toy, the Gardenbugs wrist rattle/foot finder set (we call them "jingle socks"), Octotunes, Chime Garden. Currently DS2 is in love with Logan the Lion who "purrs". I clipped it on the coat holder over his car seat and he spends half the journey grabbing at it or babbling to it.

They won't turn babies here they are not allowed to even try, so it is usually straight out cesarean unless the baby turns itself. Dr Zainab Kazim Shunnar can turn babies. She is one of the most experienced and trusted gynecologists here in Dubai; many Emiratis who are now in their 40s were delivered by her. Unfortunately, Dubai Health Authority no longer allows her to deliver babies. She practices out of Al Shunnar Polyclinic, near JBS school, in Jumeira 1.

Most likely not. The only time I was asked to pay duty on a parcel sent via USPS was by a very irate and nasty Post Office worker who insisted that I was going to re-sell the items in the parcel. Managed to sort out the situation with his manager.

Good enough reason to find a Caribou coffee place in my neighborhood! BTW the cheesecake at KFC/Pizza Hut is imported frozen from the States, made by a company called Love & Quiches, and you can taste the Philly!

An Ergo baby carrier plus the newborn insert. They now come in a few stylish color combos and prints. She will be able to use it from newborn to age 2 in all situations where a pram would be too bulky. It's also a great way to soothe cranky babies/toddlers in public. Really nice cotton pyjamas. Lush "Dream Cream" body lotion, can be used on mom and on newborn's bottom :0)

Rieker too - but I don't know where you get them here You can find Riekker, Mephisto, Sofft, Gabor shoes at K Corner shoe store. They have a branch in Town Centre on Beach Rd, a branch in the Outlet Mall and a branch near Lamcy Plaza. All of these brands are smart and comfortable and worth buying in the sales!!! I always found Clarks to be a bit narrow for my wide feet.

I put a little cumin and coriander powder (1/8th tsp each) in DS2's pureed carrots and pumpkin. He seems to like it and I figure it will help him eat our family's daily meals after his 1st birthday. Actually, it was reading posts by (American and Canadian) moms on the Mothering magazine forum that gave me the courage to try this!

Officially, it depends on the maid's nationality. Ask the labor recruitment offices and they will advise. I voluntarily pay for food, clothes, toiletries, and medical expenses. My current maid needs a lot of dental work that she's been putting off for years due to financial circumstances, and I've volunteered to pay. With my last maid, we increased the monthly salary by 50% after the first year of work, gave her a "gift" to help pay off some blood-money dispute back home, gave her a "gift" to pay for her kids' school tuition, but she still ran off when I was 8 months pregnant. Moral of the story: be kind but not excessively so.

To my distinct horror, Modhesh is quite popular with both the 2.5 yr old DS and the 7 month DS. 2.5 yr old also likes Shaun the Sheep and Mowgli (from Disney's Jungle Book film) and Remy the Rat (from Disney's Ratatouille fim) and Paddington and Mog Cat.

3 friends sent us Xmas packages via USPS to my DH PO Box at work and it has been over 4 weeks and still no delivery. Do I have to pick up these boxes somewhere in customs? My family regularly sends me packages thru USPS (private version of Shop n Ship!). The driver who collects the mail from my DH's work PO Box gets a little slip of paper inserted into the work PO Box instructing him that a package has arrived and is waiting for collection from the Karama branch of Emirates Post. The bummer is that the longer the package sits in the Karama Post office, driver will have to pay "storage charges" before he can collect the package.

It's the nickname I gave my half-sister when she was born. She was dusky pinky and fuzzy all over. Also, my username starts with the same letter as my real-life name :)

I had a Whirlpool gas cooker that was really nice. Bakers always recommend an electric oven and chefs always recommend a gas stove! I bake a lot and I liked my Whirlpool cooker's oven much more than my current and very pricey AEG electric wall oven! Just throwing out my experience, though I realize it's not the answer you were after...

It was interesting to scroll down and read the comments made to the article, particularly those made by people with first hand experience of those recruitment agencies and the last entry which claimed the existence of much nicer worker accommodation in Sharjah.

The Breyers low fat ice cream I picked up by mistake during my last Choithrams outing is incredibly good. It says "Smooth and Dreamy" on the carton! Also, the Vivani organic milk chocolate ("edel vollmilch") at Organics is very satisfying in small quantities, as is Galaxy Smooth Dark. I snack a lot once the kids are asleep :)

Milk is the constant for my 2 1/2 yr old DS. Sometimes he'll swipe at the plate of cut up fruit I make sure is always there on breakfast table. He refuses eggs. We have tried explaining that Mog the Cat and Paddington Bear both like eggs for breakfast. He doesn't like jam.

I recently stayed at the Four Seasons Seychelles with my 2 1/2 yr old son and my 6 month old son. It was very comfortable and you certainly felt like you had the place to yourself (and a few Eastern european girls with their sugar daddies :P) We never made use of the babysitting service on offer because we didn't feel a good vibe from the women we saw babysitting other guests' kids.

I get the organic brown basmati rice from the Organic supermarket. It tastes good, but it's not as fab as the brown rice served at PF Chang's....I feed it to the kids and it helped me lose most of the pregnancy weight. Just use less water to prepare it than the packet advises, or else you will end up with mush.

I wish I had thought about what to do when Number 2 came along! Number 2 came 24 months after number 1, and I spent 5 difficult months pushing the older child in our excellent Bebe Confort Loola Up stroller and carrying the newborn in the Ergo (my back and shoulders are quite weak). Finally we bought a double stroller from the Mamas&Papas shop in the Outlet mall. If I could do it again, I would buy the Phil&Teds while pregnant with #1!

We have returned from recent 8 night stay at the Four Seasons Seychelles. DH, myself, DS1 (2 1/2 yrs old) and DS2 (six months). Upon our request prior to arrival, the hotel provided us, free of charge with: alcohol-and fragrance-free baby wipes, Pampers, 2 Graco strollers for our use during our stay, car seats in the airport transfer car and in the taxi that took us on the Mahe island tour, secure metal cots with Mothercare cellulose blankets, a baby bath-tub and plenty of baby toiletries. The Kids Club is beautiful and has a great collection of childrens story books, craft materials, puzzles, etc. The staff, however, REFUSE to interact with your child if your child is below 4 yrs old. Just a warning. An Indian couple left their 3 and 1 yr old DDs there for 2 hrs and the staff simply surrounded them with soft bean bags and left them. There is babysitting available, babysitters are local Seychelles ladies. DH and I didn't get a very good vibe from them, but the German couple with young kids felt differently and we often saw their kids with the babysitter. The kids menu on the room service menu is quite good, even the fish fingers are made by the chef. My tip: if you need diapers/nappies while in Seychelles, the brand called Little Angels is excellent quality and much cheaper to buy in local supermarkets than Pampers, etc.

I'm happy sending DS1 to The Childrens Garden in Jumeirah. Most of the primary teachers are Western (British and European) and DS1 now has a strong Brit accent!

Maybe hang a little oven thermometer inside the oven while the cake is baking, and keep checking that the temp remains constant. Sounds like your oven over-heats!
