Dear ladies, I used to enjoy my moroccanoil hair care products back in london, but since these products are not sold here, I am seeking some substitutuion for it. Maybe some of you have tried out any good local brands, i am looking for some extra nourishment for my hair :) any response would be much appreciated, since i do not know where to start my research :) Hi Marincique The moroccanoil hair care products (UK made) are availabe from Spinnyes (I have seen them at Town Centre Spinnyes). Try Mayonnaise with cling wrap for an hour or so. It works!

Hi Anouja! We had our DS's birthday early May (we were probably one of the first people to have their party at CM). Our package was the Spectacular (Dhs 89.00 minimum of 20 people). Children food was O.K. Adult food (taste and presentatio OK)(you get to choose from platters enough for 10 people) but it's really enough for 4-5 people especially if fathers came along too, very pricey too. Games played were not age appropraite (for 3 Y.O) children looked confused and did'nt know what was expected from them. Their playarea however is really good and the Birthday parade they do is also nice! I looked up their website for you and they do have prices for party packages on the web. http://www.cheekymonkeys.ae/birthday-parties/

Very unfortunate. I would not hesitate to call the police immediately. You have proof she stole from you. I have no sympathy for someone who steals! She deserves what the police charge her with, hopefully detain her and ban her from entering the UAE again. I would be very ticked off if I hired a maid whom I later found out was a thief and the that the previous employer did not report it :(. It is your duty to report her immediately, not send her home. Keep her salary in abeyance and follow the police instructions. I totally agree! It's your duty as an employer to report her. Similar incident happened to us late July last year and our maid was jailed and deported. Unfortunatly we paid for the ticket but there was the 10 year ban on her not to enter U.A.E.

Hi Babylons. I purchased my RBs form the optical shop at lulu barsha (ground floor). Six months later my duagther sat on my sunnies and managed to break one arm! Took it back to see if thet can fix it but RayBans (the company) chose to replace it for free. I was thrilled :) The Philipino man (technician) who works there can have a look at yours and perhaps order the part for you from RBs.

HiDubaiCat. I used Best flights before (an australian travel agent (based in perth/ operates 24/7) www.bestflights.com.au Go to their web and run a quick query with your dates the system will quote from various airlines. I believe Royal Brunei,Itihad and Southern China air are the cheapest. You can purchase the ticket online through them (they are having a sale now on Intl flights till end of Oct) Good luck

pattycakes919...I have had my hair done last week full head with color on roots to cover darker part (I've got dark color naturally-strong pigment). My Hairdresser did the highlights first THEN put the tint on roots. Before we only did tint on roots (between highlights) to give my hair time to become healthier etc. I'm happy to give you her contact number if you want to ask her the question. P.S. she is a mobile HD

Hi Babyvella! I hear you! I posted something similar a few days ago but my post got deleted (I guess becuase it is agaisnt EW rules to organise meeting people via chat etc) we are in pretty much the same situation! We too live in the Springs and would love to meet with other families and their LOs just don't know how we can get in touch without swaping e-mails via EW forum.... Is there a way around it without violating rules?

Hey everyone! I could use some help. My two year old son has had an issue with coughing at night for almost four months now. He barely coughs during the day, and i mean very rarely. But at night, he just coughs and coughs and coughs until he throws up. I've taken him to doctors and they've chalked it up to allergies and prescribed children's Zyrtec. I'm losing a lot of sleep! I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this and may have some good advice to either let me know what it may be or how to help it. I also made an appointment to see Dr. Fadil Y Anad (Al-Najjar) at City hospital (Asthma specialist/ allergist) Paed. Any recommendation? TIA I appreciate your time and responses!

Testing for bacteria. Actually we think it might be from the Shoreline kiddy fountain. It's been sitting dormant for years and now the children love it, but my son got very sick :( That's not good! I hope your LO recovers quickly! We went about a month ago to aqua venture at Mirdif city centre. There is this section where you can play with water etc. That night my DS's fever was 40+ for a whole week. Def not going there again! p.s.I have the testing kit for ch and ph levels but sorry cant help with bacterias/ viruses needs to be sent to a lab but dont know any place that does that- sorry! edited by AusJor on 11/09/2012

can your maid not use a taxi ? The the Dubai Taxi has the “In-Safe-Hands Taxi Service”. You need to sign an agreement with RTA to book the cabs for daily/weekly/monthly trips. Also, you get to chose gender of driver if you opt a male then a guardian needs to ccompany minors. This info from the RTA web "Fares in the new taxis are Dh25 at flagfall and Dh1.71 a kilometre, compared with Dh3 to Dh20 flagfall and Dh1.60 a kilometre in other cabs. Waiting time is the same, at 50 fils a minute".

Hi purplerain, I'm in a similar situation! We moved to Dubai early last year. The headoffice (overseas) offered my husband an on and off role to Dubai with a promise to fully relocate him after one year to their Dxb office. So here we are after one year husband still works literaly 4 weeks in Dubai and 4 weeks overseas (14 HOURS from dubai). We have 2 very young children. I'm all alone raising, entertaining and fully responsible for. Last year we bought a villa to settle and live like a normal family.Still no updtes from company the only excuse is that there isnt enough work demand for an executive manager to be fully based here. To add my husband is always busy spends more time in the skies than on earth travelling to all sort of places. He used to e-mail me his itenraries but not anymore so Im left guessing if he is on a plane etc calculating time diffrence which is driving me crazy. I feel like a single parent, left to make solo desicions for the family exp when it comes to the children. He is always tired when he arrives becuase of jet lag (14 hours non-stop to dubai). Although he tried applying for jobs in dubai but so far this hasnot been successful :( edited by AusJor on 09/09/2012

I have been wearing dark coloured dresses (tailored fit with an empire neckline and capped sleeves below knee, small belt in the middle). Very comfortable, professional, and won't offend anyone)

KT Thanks for sharing! This is what I found on the FDA U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Elevated warning qouting "Depo-Provera (medroxyprogesterone acetate injectable suspension) Audience: Reproductive and other healthcare professionals FDA and Pfizer notified healthcare professionals of the addition of a BOXED WARNING along with revisions to the WARNINGS, INDICATIONS AND USAGE, PRECAUTIONS and POSTMARKETING EXPERIENCE sections of the prescribing information to include information on the loss of significant bone mineral density. Depo-Provera Contraceptive Injection is indicated only for the prevention of pregnancy in women of child-bearing potential. Bone loss is greater with increasing duration of use and may not be completely reversible. Depo-Provera Contraceptive should be used as a long-term birth control method (eg, longer than 2 years) only if other birth control methods are inadequate".

Why do you need to get off the pill? I have been on it for over 10 years and my doctor says there is nothing wrong with that. Also look at the side effects of depo. Read the studies. There are more side effects then the pill (ex. Weight gain). Hi Dubai girl23 and all! I have done some more research and having second thoughts now. Most women had quite a few if not ALL of the side effects for this injection. Still uncomfortable with the IUD so might stick to the pill now. I have been on for more than 9 years and my doctor was horridied when I mentioned this! Thanks all... x

Thank you Cheeky Monkey! This is excellent. I really need to get off the pill as I have been on for a long long (really long time) but don't feel comfortable with the IUD thing. Do you know how much approx the cost? I presume it is not covered under insurance? Thanks!

My DD (May 2009) is fully trained but I still assist with number 2s!! Good thing this topic was brought up I need to train her to do it ALL by herself. It is not an issue for her school though. Perhaps talk to the teacher and explain that your son is being trained and need a few weeks to master the new skill and be all independent!!

Sorry to ask this ladies, but i had gynae surgery on thursday last week, and really struggling to go to the toilet still. The hospital advised me to take lactulose syrup which did nothing, and now they said glycerin suppositories... which again didnt do anything. Can anyone recommend anything else i could try ?? Im feeling even more bloated and swolen now, when i wanted my stomach to be going down and getting easier :( Hi nickym1d, I had similar problems when I had my second baby and the midwife (in Melbourne) suggested (Metamucil) Gel/ fibre drink. I don't think it is available in Dubai but happy to share my bottle which I brought back with me hopefully it will help. Let me know if you want me to save some for you.

Hi JBR Mum, I had same issues when my DS was young, had to change formulas so many times until a Pead advised that before we start medication we should try to thicken the formula so it stays down. It is very simple and effective, I used Famelac Rice Bessau Instant Cereal added a heaped spoon to my baby's formula (similac) it worked. I found the link for you if you want to give it a try. http://alshacker.com/products1.html This rice is available in Dubai (The box is light blue) in supermarkets and some chemist do stock too. Good luck
