Thanks for the input. Actually I did join a Yahoo group called Autism & mercury and there are so many for and against this therapy. Will be taking one of kids to Dr. Dardari at American Hospital this week to find out the first step in Bio medical intervention. I thought this chelation is the only thing in biomedical intervention. Are there more procedures involved?

Thank you all of you for these tips. I too was thinking about the opp effect of sedatives and doubling the hyper behaviour as I have experienced higher levels of hyper activity after giving them something as mild as Adol syrup, works the other way. I guess the only way forward is to try it out with favourite toys and foods and notify passengers & staff in advance. What kind of cards do you carry? Are there any specific ones available or do we make our own?

Yes, that is absolutely right. Mehbooba is a wonderful lady. God bless her for setting up this institution. I had gone for a meeting yesterday and went up to the classrooms, great work!

Stepping Stones has an inclusion based programme similar to Child Enrichment Centre. However, they charge 15000 per child. Had a meeting with them and they are very professional, but their rates are higher than CEIMC

Thanks for this info, Jammie. My problem always exists cos I have two kids and this would again be costly. I really wish these special needs centres would bring down the costs or offer a discount. All the therapies are so expensive and for me the costs are doubled. I will be meeting with Carolina next week and see what can be worked out.

Jammie, you are right about my twins. I have been sending my kids to CEIMC for two years now and they progressed, but not to the level they could have as I could not afford more hours there and there are two kids involved so I was trying what I could do to manage. The Child Enrichment Centre they opened is nice, I visited that. But again it is way too expensive for me. I believe it is close to 12K a month for each child? Would you mind telling me how much you pay for your child and how many hours he goes there daily? I have found a similar set up in Jumeirah with SAFE centre and that is much more affordable with a classroom set up. I want to keep a combination of SAFE centre and intensive ABA as these centres do not provide toilet training, sending therapists with us for outings, etc. But CEIMC has min hours required for each child and this SAFE centre together is becoming a lot.Hence I was finding out about Reach Out and Stepping Stones. I don't want the kids to lose out onthe intensive training, but if I can limit the hours, it will be good. Dont know if Reach out or Stepping Stones have these facilities.

If it is a spa experience you want to treat your Mom to, then Cleopatra Spa at Wafi is a treat. But if you are looking at a Moroccan Bath, the Amaya Salon at Lamcy is an experience worth trying.

I have used Reach out before and I have kept that as an option. Trixibell, could you give me the contact details of this place? Halfmoon, did your son start at that inclusion facility they have just opened at Mirdiff or the one at Health Care City? How are their charges? Thanks all

Thank you ladies. Guess I need to keep both balanced here. I keep worrying that I am not doing enough for my kids and then go too deep into that phase.

My husband used to have acne in his scalp and was so painful that he couldn't sleep. I too had a mild infection and the easiest way to get rid of that was a course of Doxycyclin tablets prescribed by my dermatologist for one month and we are now rid of the same. It is one tablet daily and the effects can be seen within a week's time. She had also recommended a medicated shampoo once a week and your normal shampoo for other washes during the week. Doxycyclin in the main medicine, it comes in various brands, any is ok. When summer months are here, I sometimes get this acne again and 10 days of these tablets and I don't have the issue for months. You don't need a prescription, but you can visit your dermatologist once to make sure you are getting the right medication.

Thanks guys. I do have a small laminating machine and was thinking of laminating small chart papers. Was wondering about the ring holders and PECS. Kim, could you email me some PECS I could use? Thanks Jammie & buttonmoon for your valuable inputs. Isn't Prolo the one you use on Ipods? was thinking of that, nut my kids tend to throw things and we had to say goodbye to an ipod within 3 months cos of that. How are you coping? You guys are life savers :)

Hey thanks. I want small books. So A5 ring folders will be big. Will try to see if I can get smaller ring folders or a smaller book. Can you tell me if we get readymade laminated sheets or do we have to buy chart paper and get it laminated and then cut to the size we require? Also, do you know the name & location of the shop in Satwa where we can get the stick on velcro? Please be in touch as I was told that using PECS at home will encourage my children to speak. edited by av1998 on 17/01/2011
