wow I am happy to find other people with Hashimoto's in Dubai! OK that sounds a bit weird but good to know I am not alone. Chocobella, I hope you do not mind that I will also send you an email, I would appreciate all the info you have from your journey. I was diagnosed in November 2015, first on levo 25 mg and since February on 2 grains compounded T3 and T4, which made me feel a bit better but my heart rate sometimes goes up and it scares me a bit as I read that could mean overdosing. So I skip some days and do not take the medication. Last week I had a blood test so I am expecting results soon. BTW, I go to Dr Ana Sepiolo, who is a gynaecologist, she diagnosed me with Hashimoto's so I am very grateful that by coincidence she really got my symptons right and started testing in that area. Anyway, just a proposal, maybe we should create a private group on facebook, where we can share tips, where to buy supplements, what brands, medication, food, recipes... just a thought.

Q to the ones who own the purifyer already, do you switch the air purifyer on the entire day/night? i am wondering if you need to switch it on permanently, we do have an 'auto' button which I have to investigate what it means but I hope it means that it switches itself off automatically once the air in that particular room has been cleaned. (I wish Dubai's next big project is an indoor Forest with real trees, which would copy the European seasons :), i would go there every weekend):)

we also recently bought the LG Air Purifier & Humidifier from LG Shop in the Dubai Mall. We have not had to clean it yet but it does not look complicated. We just bought one and we will move from one room to the other as it was expensive. So we do few days living room, then one bedroom, then the other bedroom.

there seems to be mixed messages in the news on Air Quality, yesterday Dubai Eye indeed reported that air quality seems to be worse than Bejing. Now I read this though: http://gulfnews.com/news/uae/environment/uae-air-quality-meets-global-standards-1.1542667 So not sure what is true. However, what I would definitely do if you would move here is buy an air purifier/humidifier for your house/apt. I just bought one from LG because I got worried too after the news on poor air quality outdoors as well as indoors.

I would ask your doctor in France for advise. it is the first time i hear that air is so polluted here, it is obviously healthier living in a country that has more nature. You can buy Air Purifiers for the house, we are also considering buying since you can't open windows for fresh air during the hot months. There are great doctors here in Dubai so do not worry about that, but as countess mentions, do check about insurance. Good luck, this is not an easy decision for you.

we have only been here 9-10 months only and last month, we had the opportunity to move back to Europe jobwise, but we decided not to. we feel we just arrived and have not had the time to really live it and breathe. Although we are also chocked by the high costs, and our nursery just displayed their new fees for the new year, 20 percent higher! And they operate ramadan on reduced hours, yet we pay for full days, those things irritate me a lot, but what can you do, i read those are apparently common frustrations. Overall, I like the thought of living here couple of years and then move back to Europe, when our child is older.

we had our apt painted by Jim Will Fix it, very good job! We bought the paint ourselves though as we wanted better quality paint but that was not a problem.

we use Metropolitan Maids, every week for 3 hours, charge 35 Dhs per hour. we are happy with them, sometimes when you cancel or reschedule you have to triple check because the manager forgot to pass the info to the maid, but other than that, we are very happy.

www.lynda.com for online tutorials on a variety of topics (business, office programs, soft skills, elearning, interior design, and many many more). You can try this out 7 days for free via their website. rouxbe: online cooking school (have not tried myself yet but it is on my wish list when I have more time), I have looked for cooking classes in Dubai, but not for my schedule and also I read some negative comments too. For fitness, i have no idea. If you would like to become make up artist and/or Hair, check http://www.illumin8makeupstudio.com/ they offer professional courses.

near Baux de Provence: www.benvengudo.com (friends of me stayed there and we visited them there for lunch, lovely!) near Mont Ventoux: http://www.villa-noria.com/ (we stayed here ourselves for 2 nights, really great and the owner is a chef, he makes the best food for a very very reasonable price)

Does anyone know whether you are allowed to transfer your savings from HSBC Premier account to your home country? I have heard that you have to have a minimum amount on the HSBC Premier in order to qualify being HSBC Premier?

I have great experience with Your Style beautysalon, Southridge, downtown. I do not know the price by heart though, and I have only done gelish once, so not sure whether they charge for removal, but call them to find out. I was very pleased the gelish was done perfectly and lasted up to 4 weeks!

If your husband works in Business Bay then I would suggest Executive towers too. many families with children, nice outdoorplayground. A friend of me lives there with 2 children and she said, even during the hot months, it is great because many airconditioned areas so no need to drive somewhere. Business bay is close to the lovely downtown area (Burj Khalifa, Dubai Mall) so during the nice months you could take nice walks.

no idea. I know a friend who lives in Executive towers and likes it there. There are new apt/loft for sale called 'bay square', have no idea if any good but see their displays next to the road. Location of bay square is more business bay but more downtown, opposite South Ridge.

Sophie27, you mention that your insurance covers BHRT, could I ask you which insurance you have? I am searching EW for BHRT and read positive experiences for Eternity Medicine and London clinic. I want to make an appointment but am afraid it will be very costly. In the coming month we can renew our policy/insurance so that is why I am asking.

I am 5 -11 and bought nice long skinny jeans in several colors at Mango Dubai Mall. Nice dresses in Massimo Dutti (but I usually need XL size there). did you try 7 for all mankind for long jeans? I tried Zara too for jeans but they were too short for me. edited by Axelle on 22/04/2015

Goodmorning everyone ! I know there are previous threads on this but what are your best attempts of getting rid of fruit flies in the house? I searched on youtube and the suggestion to get rid of them is to fill a plastic cup with Apple Cider with a few drops of dish washing liquid soap to catch the existing ones. But how do you avoid from having them at all? Do you keep all your fruit also in the fridge? I only keep vegs in the fridge. Do you keep your bread in the fridge? Do you wash your fruit with something special before putting them in a fruit bowl? I also noticed we have small flies (similar) in our bathroom, not sure why they are there, probably because it is a humid area. I remove trash daily. Thanks for your tips!

Bumping up an old thread; I am interested to know where to buy good sun protection swim clothes for my 20 month old son, including a good head coverage. Does Decathlon sell this?
