Hi Ladies, Just wanting to know how many of you are cooking for your babies/ toddlers at home? If purchased in supermarket would you prefer:a fresh (5 day shelf life) product, frozen (6 month shelf life) product or a pouch/ jar (12 month) shelf life? Do you know the difference between these products, or are they all the same? where in the supermarket (and which supermarket) do you find frozen and fresh baby food? I only found the baby foods in jars.

Good to know about dry Shampoo being available at Boots, I searched a lot in supermarkets and did not found it. Finally yesterday I bought Dry Shampoo at Sephora Dubai Mall (52 AED) and at Waitrose Dubai Mall (47 AED) so both much more expensive than in Belgium. I know what to tell relatives to bring when coming here :). A tip for not having the white powder showing on your hair: spray from a bit further, + I use hairdryer for a minute or so after having sprayed the dry shampoo, result is great! That is expensive, Batiste is only AED30 but AED18 at home :-) thanks I will look for a Boots store from now on :)

I also want to order online from IKEA, thinking it will only take a few days till delivered. But you mention they did not even confirm the order yet? Has this been solved already? I would call them immediately and complain. let me know how it turned out pls, then I can still decide to go there versus ordering online, as we need stuff urgently.

Hi, I am new to Dubai, so not really the best advice, but what I would try (because it is only one month) is either agree with your partner, who will do the morning shift, after school shift (if your work permits flexible hours), eg you can start working very early when your husband takes care of the morning ritual + bringing to school and you could finish your day early and pick up the kids from school? Or check with the school whether aftercare is provided by the school. Or check with other mums whether your children can stay with their children after school (if they live nearby school).... Me and my husband work fulltime and do not have a nanny, our boy goes to nursery and we are able to balance like that (mornings vs evening care). Or if any of the above solutions do not work, I heard there are agencies in Dubai that provide babysitting service (but that will not solve the picking up from school part)

OMG Genie... I do hope I can use tapped water for cooking at least, I love making soup! so it would become very expensive to always use bottled water...

Dear JulesLC, could I chat offline with you? I read in another thread about a helper that you work with, I would like to have more info on how that will work. Backgound of my request: we will move to Dubai in August and both full time working. For our baby boy who will then be 1 year old we are checking out nurseries (blossom downtown or Jins Southridge) but were wondering what if he is sick and cannot stay at the nursery, how to solve this when you cannot rely on family.... Also we will live in an apt so no space for a live in maid.
