You could also use the Mothercare Wedge? We used it for DD! available in most Mothercare stores. http://www.mothercare.com/Mothercare-Wedge-Pillow-Cream/397331,default,pd.html?cm_sp=ProductFeatures-_-Category%2520landing-_-Mothercare%2520Wedge%2520Pillow%2520Cream Wish these were around when DS was smaller-much cheaper option. Just be sure if using it under the mattress that it is the same width to avoid any potential gaps I have this one in plastic form-you are welcome to have it if you want

I think you should start another thread seeking other's insight to being married into an Emirati family. Since if you were to get married that is why you would move to Dubai. At this point he really should be suggesting that you meet his family....

The walk is on the 2nd November this year and it will be at Zabeel Park. In the past, we were able to pre-register and get T-shirts etc from Bur Juman the week before. Otherwise, I've registered the same morning but it gets hectic. Not sure how it will be now that it's going to be in the park. Thank you!

I'm not local but have been to many Emirati weddings as I was married into one. As a previous poster stated- wear a long dress/gown. Even though I have seen loads of cleavage I have yet to see the knees exposed at weddings. Lots of sparkle, make-up, and yes, the bling. Many ladies look Oscar ready. The men and women are seperate and on different evenings usally. People arrive late and the bride arrives VERY late. An announcement is made before the groom enters after the bride has done her walk and sat on "the stage". This is when the ladies cover. (many older ladies remain in abayas the whole evening). Some weddings are buffet style but most you get served. If it is a royal wedding you may have to check your mobile, etc. The music is load as is so try to avoid a seat near the speakers. The first wedding I went to I thought I was supposed to bring a gift-no one else did. actually you leave with one that varies from wedding to wedding. Once the groom enters and the family takes photos women start to leave in a mass. ENJOY!

She does get a small book each week that I read and go over with her. She was in school in the US and at 4 had homework every night and would also come home with all the work she did that day in school. I know the same for 5 years old. I was giving the benefit of the doubt as we have switched schools and curriculum. The teacher seems very lovely and caring but I will check if she should be bringing back anything. She is my oldest so I am new to this which is why I am asking. thank you for the feedback

Ladies I saw this yesterday and the publication had a picture, which will stay with me for a long time. Please do not look further than this yahoo link. God bless the little girl and her parents. I really appreciate the warning. I read an article last night snd was awake ALL night unable to sleep thinking about this. I was going to do a search to read more but will not now. In the past I have seen crime scene photos that just dont seem to leave you. But one of a child would be even worse.

"DEXTER"-I have only seen the first few seasons but really enjoyed it. "Nip/Tuck"(some episodes had thriller aspects), "Mad Men"(though not thriller is an excellent drama time piece), "Weeds" (only the first few seasons were good), "Amercian Horror Story" (yes!yes! yes!!!) and my new favorite-"Breaking Bad" (which a very kind poster has helped me get started with.

I am new to this so I thought maybe it was just my child's school. We just started as she has been very ill and I had only dealt with nursery. just driving through the bumpy completely unpaved sandlot was one thing but watching all the near-misses and yelling (really) was another. I'm not a complainer, but what a way to start the day. thank you ladies for letting me vent

I also have a 3 years old Boy and i called many schools already and got the same answer " long waiting list with almost no chance to get a place for the next year " , i called Wellington international school , Dubai American Academy ,Jumeirah primary school :( That's only three schools. In the past two weeks I have called EVERY school (US, US/IB, UK, UK/IB, IB) and there are no places for certain grades, and I want to change DDs school but no such luck. Go to KHDAs website, click 'Directory', select the Cirriculum, then see what's on offer. Dar Al Maaref is IB, Mirdif area. I'm pretty sure JBS has spaces. They are new and still advertising for enrollment JBS is also a new school with no much reviews and quite high fees, that's why i chose CAS (which is also quite expensive school) over it as it's location suits me better. I understand.

Call the police asap and they will send someone to the house to take her in. you will have to file a complaint and it may go to civil court. Usally the investigation shows that they have stolen more than you realize...AND having a husband here is NOT a deterrant from running away. Do NOT let guilt of any kind cause you to hesitate. This is a crime and should be treated as such. If found guilty(sounds so) she is most likely looking at 6 months then deportation. The police may be able to recover your stolen items

depending on the age group you will see a variety of gowns. The younger generation tends to wear very revealing gowns on the upper portion but the length is long. As another poster posted many ladies (usally over 40 ) keep thier abayas on. Two things to keep in mind- the bride arrives late (very) and you should not take photos with you mobile there. Some of the shieka weddings even take your phone when you enter and you get it back when you leave. I mentioned about the jalabiya because whenver I take visiting guests they really like wearing them and usally wind up buying one. It is loose fitting (hides muffin top) and comes in a variety of colors. Beach Center has reasonable prices but maybe Satwa has lower ones. Enjoy!

There is a store on the second floor of Beach Center on Jumeria Beach RD that sells a lot of "one size fits all" jalabiya dresses. You can also have some custom made at many shops

I really enjoy Madmen!!! My Aunt has an older friend who was a secretary on Madison during that whole era for an ad agency. She said it is hard for her to watch because it is like being in a time capsule-it is that accurate! the look, the sexisim, the vibe,,,yet being a secreatary in NYC at the time was a huge deal!

Once you give one they all come around and he will return. It all stopped for me when I had a man in a Kandora answer the door. Also the requests for part-time/on the side gardening stopped as well. As a previous poster stated- they think Westeners are naive and "stupid" (yes, really) and will believe anything.

40 is coming close in November and many changes have happened in my life. With friends scattered all over the globe and not wanting the stress of planning- I have decided to start 40 off alone. I am open to any suggestions of ideas of where to go and what to do(preferrably out of UAE) -really a clean slate here to start with. Nutty question it may seem but I am willing to travel for a few days. Is there any place that you would suggest that may be lovely to go about this?? My first thought was Bali since I have never been there but as I have said I am really open to ideas thank you

I have used Xenical. I did lose weight but will icky side effects. Maybe a bit of TMI but if you have fats you may get loose gas (YIKES!) and NOT make the toilet in time. It has happened to myself and my friends when we were all trying it. AND there was a unpleasant odor emitting from my pores... your bathroom will smell horrid as well. you have to avoid fats but there are times you have foods with small amounts and then the side effects are the aforementioned for some. It also makes your skin age. it is taking out so many oils from within no cream helps. that was a huge complaint many had. you can tell when someone has used it for awhile by their face. and you cant take these forever so you must learn to change your habits...still you will lose the same amount with the ole-eat less, do more
