The only time that the cheque "COULD" be written out to the real estate company is if its a sublet agreement between the owner and the real estate company. In that case both the owner and realestate companies names would be on the contract. I also do not advise to ever go with the above situation or you could be in the middle of a Max type scam (as I am!)

I have a lot of experience with Exceptional Interior Decoration. They have never handed over a project late, and have "western" standards for building. Call them 04 . 327. 3522

Have you thought about volunteering for a non profit while your in Dubai? If your husband can support you both, there is no reason you can't use your wonderful knowledge and education to better the lives of others!? If you really want to work work, you could move here, volunteer temporarily while you search for the perfect job.

After taking care of many children that are at different levels on the spectrum I can say I'm not too surprised. Obviously the parents may not be the "odd one" as genes showing outwardly can skip generations. One girl I knew for years had PDD-NOS. Her parents both insisted it was from a vacination. After knowing them for years you could see the quirks in each of them exemplified in the daughter. The husband couldn't look you in the eye for more than a minute, the mom had NO time management skills (she would say she will be home at 5 but would show up at 9 as if she was still on time!), and her mom admitted to not speaking until she was 3, and to biting her hand when nervous until she was 5 (something the daughter did when stressed).

Im 23 so not that long ago I was expected to do chores for pocket money. I was given equivelent to 15 dhs a week from 8-12 years old, then was expected to babysit or do extra extra chores (such as washing the car), to make any money i wanted to, meanwhile still doing my household contribution. from 8-12 I had to assist in the kitchen with dinner prep 2x a week, either unload/load the dishwasher or wash the pots and pans 2-3x a week, help clean my room every saturday, and help with my laundry. from 12 till i moved out i had to do full dinner making 2x a week, full dishes 2x a week, vaccuum and clean my room every saturday, and clean a bathroom in the house every saturday. I was supposed to mow the lawn 1x a month as well, but managed to cut the cord once so that was stopped :P I also had to dust the living room 1x a month, and do ALL my own laundry. If i didn't then no clean clothes! i feel that without this I wouldn't be a well rounded adult, and would have a lot of trouble balancing work, cleaning, occasional cooking, and taking care of my husband. Kudos to the moms who make their children do chores!

A part of the quality here is where the garments are made. For example guess jeans in US and Canada are made in US or mexico. here they are made in Tunisia. Zara clothes sold in spain are made in spain. Sold in turkey are made in turkey. Here they are usually made in Morrocco. There are different standards at each factory. ;)

My best point of advice is: Forget about giving people the benefit of the doubt. I am Canadian and learned this the hard way. Take everything people tell you (**cough **cough** real estate agents, companies, contracts), and pretend its a lie until proven to be the truth. Unfortunately usually its a lie here :(

agree. Try Hana centre but go from 4 or 5pm onwards as a lot of them do split shifts.

If they call the police just be polite and tell them your side. A few weeks ago my husband was driving with me in the passenger seat, and we were changing lanes with signal and all. Then the guy behind us drove up onto the curb on the boulevard, over the flowers and started shouting at my husband. After some unpleasant words from his side he went around to the other side of us, and tried to cut infront of us. Our cars hit and I got a photo right as we he was trying to drive off. My husband told him at the light to pull over as we were calling the police. The guy said he already called and we were going to be in a lot of trouble (as he was local). Finally after 3 lights he decided to pull over. The police came, heard both sides and then found out I had a photo. They told the local why would she take a photo if her car was in the wrong! He got a ticket for dangerous driving (1000dhs) and a few points. The office asked if the guy should have his licence taken and my husband said no we just want the papers for repairing the car.

Hi I did this last year in abu dhabi so perhaps I can be of a little help. It's the same procedure but different offices etc. Medical results you get in about a week. I suggest going to the court and taking to the judge. As no one can legally get married while on visit visa. Judges do make exceptions esp if you can prove you have known each other for a long period of time. Your father must be present if he is also muslim. If you are a convert you have to get legal papers from the court saying you converted. Then you have to go get more special permission from the judge to get married as you have no Muslim father etc You have to go to your embassy and get papers saying you haven't been married aren't widowed etc back home. Only the lady doss this so do it ahead of time . Also fill in the application ahead of time. If you aren't working and there's no holidays you can get it done in about 6 or 7 working days

I have all docs except ijari... I even have a copy of the landlords lease to max. O le problem w my case is that the landlord sent me a copy of a notice from the court giving max 3 days to sign a new lease or cancel the old one. The landlord has "no proof" of either situation happening so now the court is trying to figure out what did actually occur. Then they will tell us if our contract w max is valid or not. It's crazy that one company can cause so much head ache to so many people! @amayb go to barsha police station (at khal and hessa) and make a case against max and your landlord. While the case is being investigated the landlord can not do anything, not even evict you. The police even called my landlord and told her not to enter my premiss!

I am 23, so not too long ago I was asking permission to go to parties. Most of the time I got a no way in he'll type of answer. When i gave a fake number of "parents" to contact, and a friend would pretend to be the parent, I managed to go to a few parties. If I lived life over I wouldn't dare go to them! So many horror stories of kids in the hospital, crazy drugs all around, pregnant friends, friends asking everyone to donate to get an abortion, friends getting raped! AlhunduliAllah none of this happened to me, but it's not fun to think about even now. Please don't let her go. She will get over it!

I don't think your disrupting him emotionally because your putting him closer to you, not further, and you are keeping him in his own bed. Perhaps bring some of his stuffies/ toys to your room as well so he doesn't feel like anyone is stealing from him.

every time this happens to me I get mad for a second and then remember how my dad handles these situations. LAUGH at how ignorant they are! The worst/ funniest is in Dubai Mall, when you're waiting in the line for the bathroom, and someone pushes past and stands right in front of a stall. Once I said something and the lady said "I have to p" the entire line burst out laughing, and a 6 or so year old girl said "ME TOO!"

Hi. I live on reem and its the most "Modern?" of all of Abu Dhabi. Its clean, new, no bugs, etc but its in the midst of desert and construction. Its all families, but its a hassle to get a taxi. I really suggest you rent, as its only 1800 a month for a figo or yaris including insurance. If you have to get a taxi at 8-9 am you will call the company from 7am and won't get a taxi until 9:30 or 10!! The bus comes every 30-45 min and takes you into downtown, but again if you have never been here you want a car busses aren't always woman or kid friendly and waiting in the sun is NOT fun! A lot of buildings here dont allow pets so double check which ones do first. As for grocery stores there is Giant and Waitrose which are really nice, but stupid expensive. I guess it depends what you are looking for. In Boutik (which is at the bottom of sun and sky) there are a few stores such as an exchange place, frozen yogurt, a nursery (very small), la brioche, Asian food etc, but its not a shopping destination by any means. Abu Dhabi and Al Wahda mall are a 5 min drive away. Its a good place to live when you first move to A.D. if you dont want to have culture shock. Its mostly expats living on the island and you can dress as you please without feeling too uncomfortable. Best of luck with your move!!

I visited Baku a few months back and thought it was amazing. Modern, friendly, beautiful. I'm not sure about nurseries and such but since its so modern I wouldn't be worried at all!
