Thank you again ladies for your support and for the encouragement... I plan to stay positive, although the stress of seeing my family everyday looking sad, makes it worse and causes me pain..I think once I move out, I will be better...until then I have to just suck it up..have no choice..with time, i know my family will be happy with my decision and this thought is whats keeping me going.. I plan to improve myself and get all the necessary check ups as well...so that I am phyiscally and mentally strong for when my worse half returns to Dubai...I dont have plans to patch things up with him, but I want him and his family to see that they can not do this to women...and even if they do, it has no affect on me...Unfortunately, my family MAY not support this but at least I am the one left to face them when they return...I am nervous but strong that I will in 3 months, get into better shape, improve my skin and my presence and then show him what I am really made of...I want him to look at me and think 'wow' and tell me that he is happy to take me back and I want to then tell him, well im not happy to have you back...[b'>I want to then tell him of his issues (one by one) so that he knows how it feels[/b'>.....i can not live with him or put up with his family..he is not a MAN but a pathetic excuse.. Meanwhile, I do need some advice on my skin and esp the gastro doc - so i shall put this up as another post for those who can help me.. thanks so much ladies - hugs and kisses This put a smile on my face - he really did so that to you and you held back all of the issues you had. From the woman who came here months ago asking how she can fix things for her wedding to the woman who has posted this, you've come a long way. She was trying to make someone else happy, the woman today is trying to make herself happy. That's a really positive thing to see. Your family will get over it - it would have been worse had you stayed and then brought children into the equation and THEN decided you couldn't handle him anymore, because then there wouldn't have been an out-clause. Keep up the positive mentality! I think it is fantastic that he left, couldn't have given you a better parting gift than not having him there during the time you need to prepare for never having him there. Love this post AmyAus.... Wise words indeed. And the best of everything to you xaina. Love your positiveness... xx

Debenhams at MOE have a good selection of mens winter wear... Or they did about a week ago. Only been to M&S at MOE and wasn't that impressed. Maybe there is a better selection at DM? HTH

I have just had word from friends in Phuket. Beaches are deserted and people are all sat in restaurants and bars and higher ground waiting and watching :-( SH Also just heard that friends in Patong are on the roof. :-( edited by captainjacky on 11/04/2012

Thanks mrsg... Sounds like you had a great time. When you say entertainment, was that just kiddies entertainment or was there music etc? Do you get a variety of food from all the restaurants? Sorry for all the questions fired at you...lol Once again, thanks for your reply. x

Hi PlainJane We usually do Senyar at The Westin.... 3 free drinks or pool 6 vouchers and get a bottle of bubbly. Then its a choice of Horizon at Grand Habtoor (2 drinks) or if you feel up to it... Rockbottom at Ramee Rose has free vod for ladies after 10pm. Obviously these are all New Dubai so if you live other side of town then prob wouldn't appeal... Have a great night wherever you go :)

Hiya I can only speak from my own experience and that was end of Jan this year. Had to start from scratch with medical, fingerprints etc. Were told ID card is linked to visa and as a new visa will be issued with the new job, it makes the previous card invalid in every way. I am still waiting for my card to reach me. It is a big inconvenience, particularly if you work and have to spend hours sitting around. Hope you get it sorted with minimum fuss...

Channels at Media Rotana have different theme nights every night bar Saturday. Think its AED180 and lasts from 7 till 10.30. There is usually an advert in Timeout. And you can use The Entertainer vouchers. Enjoy.

It would appear this is right. Hubby and I had to hand ours in when he changed jobs. We got them back with a hole in them and had to do the whole process again as a new applicant, not a renewal. HTH

LOL bare breasted boys with their underwear on show were a plenty! I thought it was due to my 'old' eyes that I couldnt see the screen, although to be honest were not that big. Yep agree Fridays should be strictly 'brunching' ;) *High Five savvyB*..... Did like those potato/crispy type things on a stick though....

Hmmm... Went to Atelier. And whilst i have to agree that the bar/loo facilities were good and well organised, the rest was abit.... Strange. Admittedly we did go early afternoon and knew it would take time to warm up... But by 3pm it was evident what it was going to be like. Hoards of 14-16yr olds that had obviously had an encounter with The Milkman... Then come 5pm, it was the *After brunch offerings*.! Now anyone who knows me, knows I am pretty "Broadminded" as far as...Ahem... Enjoying yourself goes, but saw at least 10 people being carried out before 6pm!. Stopped to see a few acts but in all honesty the gap in between artists was tooooo long. Im sure if you were right at the front, the atmosphere would've been much more enticing, but i'm afraid it just didn't do it for me and after finding a burger (Good i may add!), decided to call it a day. All previous advertising marketed it as a music event but I found it reminiscent of an adrenalin, hormonal fuelled school disco..... Or maybe I'm just getting old and need to dig out my knitting bag.... Lol... Think i've got an embroidery set somewhere too!! No, we were sat on the seats facing the stage and the sound quality was poor. As were the TV pics of the stage. Lots of close ups of the front part of the audience but non of the artist. After Natasha Bedingfield, we moved down to the standing area and it was no better... Heard lots of "over 21s" saying they were leaving as teenagers were frollicking (Love that word) around shirtless!!.... And that was just the lads!! Different day out but have to say...Give me the good ole fashioned brunch anytime on a Friday!! How did you find the sound Captinjacky?? we were sat on the seats at the back and found the sound quality really, really bad, think of next door having a party with the sound turned up, rather muffled effect! Poor Skylar Grey, could hardly hear her :-( when Natasha Bedingfield came on we went down to as far as we could, slighty better. Not sure if its a Dubai thing with sound quality but when we went to see George Benson earlier this year, I wasnt impressed with that sound system either. Or maybe I need a hearing aid to join you when you are knitting! lol ETA... Apologies for being a numpty and putting my reply in between yours!!! Goes to show im an old fogey with perilous IT skills i guess!! edited by captainjacky on 07/04/2012

CJ was just going to suggest the same, perhaps they let little ones in at lunchtime? Great view but I know they don't allow them in the main bar .... Think if they went to the brunch it would be fine... But could work out expensive eh? Maybe if they explained the little ones disappointment the staff may let him go up and look for 15 mins or so.... Staff do love the children here and 4 yr olds have limited concentration lels(!!) so 15 mins would prob be sufficient! Hope they find somewhere... x

Morning... Well we went to Chor Bazaar last night and have to say it was fabulous... The food was spot on, service great and the restaurant was practically full, so a real nice vibe to it. Infact i was impressed by the hotel in general. Stunning to look at, a lovely bar with a large terrace area and the other restaurants there looked nice too. The whole place had a really nice feel to it and will definately go back.....

Couldnt pass by this thread without saying that Ibn Battuta hotel got the worse restaurants in Dubai, seriously it is a waste of money!! if you like Indian then you go for the Indian restaurant at Grosvenor house, small portions yes but very tasty. As for Italian, I recommend the Italian restaurant at Ritz Carlton JBR. Ah ha... Me thinks you don't like this hotel... *Taps nose and scratches chin*!!. Seriously though, thanks for info. Fancy Grosvenor House but its not in The Entertainer and made a rule to try and use as many vouchers as possible this year... Plus hubbys a cheap skate! lol

I went to Cayo Coco about 5 years ago and loved it. Beaches were out of this world, food delicious with lots of different restaurants within the all inclusive resort and pool area lovely and relaxing. Some guests did the trip to Havana but we didn't. Although we did go to a cigar making factory which was interesting. Would go back in a flash... (To Cuba that is, not the cigar making factory...lol)

Scary stuff khatooon. So glad you are ok. Well, ever so shaken up I would guess, but ok. As far as your bucket list is concerned, how about a sky dive. My friend had the same problem a few weeks ago when she left her apartment. RL (Robbing Landlord) actually asked them to move out as he wanted to sell...And when they did he "demanded" that a 5 year old sofa was dry cleaned, curtains too, chairs reupholstered, apartment painted and deep cleaned. Although none of these things were done when she moved in less than 2 years ago!! VERY frustrating! Oh and he still witheld most of the deposit......

Try looking on Dubizzle. They are usually on there if you dont want to pay pet shop prices... They generally start at about AED250 for a basic scratch post in pet shops.

Have heard that the brunch at the Movenpick on the Walk is very good. The Talk is pretty good--we liked it. Although it's at the base of the Palm-not quite Marina--the One and Only brunch is one of my most favorite thus far. But then again, I haven't been to many different places. No its on JBR Walk! Great food... Service can be a bit to be desired though. You have to be abit...Ahem.... Vocal! Right, it is, but it's called "The Talk" if you are referring to the Movenpick's brunch. Hmmm... Yes its called The Talk.... And its at The Movenpick... And its on JBR Walk.... Phew!!
